Nice place for a stop over between Munster and Oberhausen, in calm location and surroundings. The rooms are comfortable with WIFI connection. For total comfort, ask for a room with view on the lake and enjoy the sunrise. There is a free parking under camera surveillance. The staff are welcoming and converse in English. At breakfast, a buffet offers a sufficiently varied choice. The downside is unfortunately the "restaurant" or rather the canteen. The dinner takes the form of a buffet of food marinating for too long and therefore overcooked for a more than reasonable lump sum of € 15. Neither sophisticated nor gourmet but at least unusually cheap for a hotel ... Same for drinks. No wine identified by the producer or the provenance but only and anonymously by the grape variety (Merlot, Pinot Noir, etc ...). Too bad to neglect the quality of the restaurant. Customers will certainly be ready to pay more for better quality.

Convenient for a retirement party being held nearby, the room was warm (despite snow outside) and comfortable, but basic. As others have stated, the local timber-yard gives the air a woody odour, but this is neither unpleasant nor unpleasant. Reception was in the restaurant, being friendly but a little disorganised. This later aspect probably explains why I found my charge card billed twice for a one night stay. With no response to emails requesting correction, I had to go through the credit card company to reclaim the spurious charge - many thanks. But for this black mark, the price to facility ratio would have merited a better score.

Our 3rd visit to Marl, We arrived late in the day and the owner greeted us & took us upstairs (only downside are the stairs) and Briefly explained the hotel. Our room was modern with a new bathroom, kettle etc. restaurant staff are welcoming & very attentive. Food is delicious and as guests we received a 20% discount on meals. Breakfast was plentiful and included in our room rate. We spent 5 days in Marl and will stay at Hotel Mirena Restaurant the next time we visit. Better than any other hotel in Marl.

This hotel is unmanned from 10pm until 6am. You are on your own. Arrive late and you have to check in via an ATM like device, poorly lit, a flickering screen and outside in all weathers. Cheap laminate flooring adorns the accommodation block. It is noisy and cold. The rooms are pokey. Width is bed length +90 cms. To gain internet access you have to allow them to scan your passport and retain a copy. What planet are they on. To make matters worse it is expensive for such a poor standard of service and accommodation. I should know. I stay in hotels every week.
