Even though I’m a Hilton Diamond member, I’ve recently become a fan of IHG properties. Typically I’ve found them cleaner, newer and all-around better values for my travel dollar. The Germantown Holiday Inn Express didn’t match up though. This is an old property (I wonder what brand it was before HIE.) They’ve remodeled the lobby but that’s pretty much lipstick on a pig. The room furnishings are ancient. The room’s TV is about 32” and circa 2005. The bathroom is so small I had to step out to change my mind. Ridiculously small. Now, let’s discuss the complimentary breakfast. First, we never saw the attendant the entire time we were in the breakfast area. They had no forks (first time I ever ate scrambled eggs with a spoon!); no waffle maker, and the coffee was so strong I found it undrinkable. The only reason I gave this hotel 2 bubbles instead of 1 is the front desk crew. They were pleasant and welcoming. Overall, I’d suggest finding alternative lodging in Germantown.

Great customer service/check in!

Great location and Alex (front desk attendant) remembered our names! The complimentary breakfast didn’t have as much variety as other hotels, but everything was still good. My room was comfortable and looked out on the Mexican restaurant across the parking lot.
