Avian Woods Bed & Breakfast creates a warm & welcoming ambiance from the moment you arrive. Something magical happens when you escape to Avian Woods B & B. We tend to believe it's the fresh lake air, the star filled night skies or maybe it's the peaceful sounds of mother nature as she sings you to sleep. The Woods cabin has a fridge & the Nitingale room for overnight urges. The Avian room has a rainfall, glass shower, granite counters & double sinks. Both rooms have lumbar support, queen beds.
Lovely spot for a quiet hideaway. Our cabin ( not really a cabin) called The Maple (dry walled and laminate flooring with pre-fab trim and vinyl clad thermal windows) was very comfortable. Wished there was more than one chair so my bride could sit somewhere other than the bed? Bright, clean, new and air conditioned. Breakfast was nothing to write home about but there's a great breakfast place on the main drag called Shakers if you're still hungry. All in all a thankful step-up from the Bobcaygeon Inn which was awful. Sandy, you need to update your profile picture to reflect your beautiful garden !

Gordons Bobcaygeon was a REALLY pleasant surprise! The Summer of 2020 offered limited travel options, and this place looked almost too good to be true. It was about a 4 hour drive from Ottawa. The town of Bobcaygeon is very quaint. The downtown is an easy 5 minute walk from the property and has some fun shops and restaurant options. Watching the boats pass through the locks is also interesting to see. As a fan of the predictability of chain hotels, I can confirm that the units here are as good as they appear in the photos. We stayed in the Yellow Bunkie. The full kitchen was great for keeping food and snacks on-hand, and the upstairs loft had 2 good quality beds and a clever glass panel that allows wake-up views of the water. The highlight, however, was the living room with double patio doors that open to the deck/dock. We kept them open all weekend and enjoyed watching the boats pass. Swimming and fishing right off the unit’s deck was a unique experience that we haven’t done elsewhere. We also rented kayaks at the nearby Buckeye Shop and explored the river a bit. The owner Christine provided a welcome email with directions the day before we were scheduled to arrive. Aside from a quick interaction that my wife had at check-in, including an assurance that the whole unit had been scrubbed and ventilated, we had no need to communicate any further. Great service experience. The only negative was that the Wi-Fi connectivity was not great. While I recognize a place like this is supposed to be an escape from real world, it’s an important amenity for me!
