We came to the Prince Llewelyn for a night away before the bank holiday weekend. We are always very cautious of booking hotels in the country side due to some hotels being very adult centric. However, Prince Llewelyn was completely the opposite. A hotel that has recently been taken over is situated in a lovely part of the country with such fantastic views. When we arrived the manager, Emma, was very outgoing and courteous - really embracing the fact we had 3 small children, including a baby and really made an effort to welcome them and us to the hotel. She gave us an intro to the hotel with all the necessary information required. We very quickly got our keys and shown to our room which was well kitted out. Smart tv, tea and coffee facilities and clean bedding. The bathroom is very modern and disinfected - everything was clean. A big shout out to Awena who worked tirelessly to keep the hotel and bar areas clean throughout the day, everything is well maintained - she is a credit to the owners. After 30 mins of being within our room unpacking, we heard a knock on the door - it was Emma again. She wanted to see if everything was okay with our room and if we had any questions. In what other hotel do you get this service? Brilliant We decided against going out for tea as we wanted a chilled night after the 2 and a half hour drive there. We found a Chinese takeaway that looked nice from the menu - I went to collect it and upon entering back to the Prince Llewelyn the staff was very friendly again, and invited us to sit in the restaurant area to eat as the hotel room doesn’t have a table and chairs. It was lovely of them to offer and constantly came to us asking if we wanted anymore drinks, even though they was busy in the bar and restaurant area themselves for the food they serve. The food looked good and therefore made us want to get it the next day… breakfast time. I believe it was a new option they offered to your stay and well it didn’t disappoint. Fantastic cooked breakfast, offering breakfast barms, full English, scrambled egg on toast and a few more. We loved it - it was great food and great value We also had lunch - which was amazing. Southern fried chicken baguette, I would highly recommend. There was not really any childrens options for dinner as the baguettes would have been too hard for our children and baby, but it wasn’t a problem. Craig soon came up with a solution and offered for the kitchen to cook egg, ham and chips - to which they soon made it and the girls loved it. Can’t thank you enough for this. The lunch/tea food is really good and good value…. I would highly recommend. Everything about it was great - good quality baguettes, dipping chips, luxury coleslaw and fresh and soft homemade muffins. The whole stay was fantastic. Big shoutouts to Emma (manager), Awena, Callum and Sarah. They all couldn’t do any more for us if they tried. Really happy, our girls had a great time and so did we. We will definitely be returning soon.

We had a lovely stay at Sygun Fawr. Total peace and tranquility and a very homely feel to everything. Ruth and her husband are wonderful hosts and knowledgeable about the locality. Breakfast was great and the staff so helpful and friendly. Comfortable conservatory, TV lounge and an authentic bar area with a very welcome (and reasonably priced) honesty bar add to the package. Wi-Fi was no problem anywhere in the building either. Yes, the road to the house is narrow and windy but it doesn’t take long to get from the main road to the front door and we never did encounter any other traffic on the way, so please don’t let this put you off. Beddgelert, a few hundred yards away, has some great places to eat so you are never short of a nearby meal option (probably best to book where possible though). There is a car park in the town but it’s a bit pricey and it’s possible to find spaces on the roadside. Ruth, thank you so much for making our stay so memorable. You truly are a gem and we hope to be back soon. X

Amazing find, paradise tucked into a corner of Beddgelert

3 of us stayed at The Coach House in Beddgelert, with a double room each to ourselves on Saturday 23rd April. We drove up from London that morning and climbed Snowdon in the afternoon, then reached Beddgelert at 7.45pm in the evening- rather exhausted and weary. Our host answered the doorbell from the Coffee Shop quickly and showed us to our rooms. We had a key for each room and then one for the main door. He made sure we had everything we needed, we were happy with the temperature of the rooms, and asked us if we had a booking for dinner (we did) to make sure we were able to get something to eat as it was getting late. The rooms were lovely, clean and fresh with beautiful views of Snowdon. The bathrooms were spotless and modern, fresh fluffy towels provided on a warm rail, with waterfall showers that were so appreciated after a hard climb that afternoon! Each of us said the beds were comfy, the area was very peaceful and quiet and the cutrains were good blackout ones so we all got a lie in even with the sun rising early. Breakfast was provided in the room and did not disappoint. Tea and coffee facilities, a big selection of cereals, welsh cakes, fresh milk, orange juice, fruit and yogurt in the fridge. All of us wanted to stay for longer in such a beautiful little retreat and I will definitely be returning if I can! Cannot recommend enough :)

Royal Goat Hotel

We are independently run hotel with 33 en-suite bedrooms, The Humble Goat pub-restaurant - the only Free House in the village - and the Glaslyn restaurant that opens during weekends and all week during the high season. The Royal Goat Hotel was built in 1802 to cater for the growing number of tourists visiting Snowdonia. It started life as the Goat Hotel and was upgraded to Royal Goat Hotel when Queen Victoria's son Arthur stayed in 1863. The Legend of Prince Llewelyn and his famous hound Gelert was brought to wider attention by the first landlord David Pritchard, who shared the legend as a way of attracting tourists to the area and the grave is still a popular tourist spot. We are in an ideal location to enjoy Snowdonia and it's most famous mountains, rivers and lakes - Snowdon itself towers over us.

Perfectly situated and clean

Very old hotel with lots of character so expect a little bit of wear around the edges. Staff lovely, socially distanced protocol throughout the hotel and lovely restaurant.
