This hotel had everything it promised on it's site and more. The staff were absolutely wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. The local bus stopped outside for trips into Banff and it was only 5 minutes walk to the gondola and hot springs. However, do NOT stay in room 441. Although we did not have the air conditioning or heating on there was a constant hum. This wasn't too much of a problem but intermittently this noise boosted up for long periods in the night. I complained at the desk where they agreed to send someone to investigate. However, it didn't improve and if I had been staying longer we would have insisted on being moved. Be aware do not stay in ROOM 441. unless you are deaf.

Country House Hotel located in the Historic town of Banff and set in its own private grounds.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch with family and baby in the warm and comfortable dining room. The food was great and the staff really helpful and friendly, I would definitely recommend a visit. In better weather there is a really nice outdoor seating area.

We came to Banff for a family funeral and chose the County based on its location. It turned out to be an excellent choice for the 6 nights of our stay. The Georgian building is lovely, the room was clean and comfortable (a credit to the housekeeper), the service was great, but what made the County stand out was the owner, Eric and his wife Vida. Nothing was ever too much trouble as far as Eric was concerned, and we enjoyed hearing about his interesting life. But the unexpected bonus was eating the amazing food Eric cooked for us. From Cullen skink, to local fish with chips, to homemade beef steak pie (with so much succulent meat), to lamb knuckle - which was new to us and now thoroughly recommended by my husband and me. And we mustn't forget to mention the full Scottish breakfast! In fact my only regret was that our car was really full for our return home, otherwise I would have been tempted to kidnap Eric and take him back with us. We would really like another helping of his delicious lamb knuckle!!

Carmelite House is a small, friendly, family-run hotel situated in the centre of the historic town of Banff, Aberdeenshire in the North-East of Scotland. Good home cooking and a comfortable bar where, on cooler days, an open log fire burns in the ancient hearth. Ideal location for golf, fishing, walking, cycling, water sports, bird watching. See the famous Moray Firth dolphins. Provides a good base for the Castle Trail and Malt Whisky Trail.
My husband & I stayed 3 nights. We used to visit an old relative in Banff and this was a nostalgic return after over 20 years. The hotel is very central, cosy, homely and comfortable. Fiona made us feel very welcome and served our breakfast each day, pre booked the night before. We enjoyed a large double room. There are lots of takeaways, 3 bars (friendly locals) and shops within walking distance. It’s walking distance to Duff House, a must see, and Bridge of Alva, the Banff museum and Macduff. We got a late check out on our last day and were able to leave our luggage there before getting our bus home on the last day. We will stay again if/when back in Banff.
