Couldn't have been more accommodating
Reviewed By glennwellesleyA last minute booking and our visit was intended to be just a single overnight stay but we extended to 2 nights as we enjoyed our stay and Sophie's delicious food, her recommended local sites to visit were perfect and the kindly offered secure parking put us at ease. Perfectly located in this historic town.

Reviewed By Andy DThis place had been in the doldrums for years. Changed hands in 2017 & reputation is being rebuilt rapidly! With good reason. Unfortunately it's a slow burn cos everything recommendation round here is by word of mouth tittle tattle (few locals use new fangled stuff like t'Internet!). We've lived very close to Pompypomps (our nickname for Pompadour) since 2003. Been twice to AdelaM in last 3 months. 1st dinner visit was fine. Steaks excellent. Massive portions. Proper wines well chosen. Average price. So when we couldn't get booked into our favoured Races Pompadour on site resto last Sunday we went to AdelaM for lunch before The Races. Happy to serve us at 11.45am! Races started at 1300hrs. That flexibility is a welcome bonus in this part of France. Most places say "Not until 12:30hrs". We both chose Fish & Chips. I know what snooties are thinking but please don't go there. We're well hacked off with almost all French Restos round here churning out 'boil in the bag' grub. You can't boil Fish & Chips in a bag, can you. So a true test. Sunday lunch main platter (if that's what you choose from extensive menu probably too long) comes with 3 free starters on the same breadboard platter (which adds value enormously). Auberge de la Marquise is, now, our "go to" place of choice for grub in Pompypomps. Fish & Chips were okay. French grub even better. There's something for everyone. Not sure about Vegans. I hasten to add that reservations can be made by email (if you're foreign & a bit scared of using the phone). They always reply quickly enough. Google translate will be good enough. This is a typically French charming country gaff at the roadside (as almost all others are too). Yet the owners are switched on whilst keeping that rural vibe to the fore. Difficult to fault the grub. Haven't seen the rooms.

Reviewed By helen aSmart reception, fab room, all brand new, great comfy bed, good linen, staff could not be more helpful and the breakfast was 5* . Highly recommended. Close to center of town but really quiet. Minutes from Chateau and racecourse, would come back many times.

La cuisine était un alliage très réussi de tradition et de dressage contemporain, tout en accord avec la région et le temps présent. Le vin était aussi très bien choisi, aussi original que rassurant. C’est une adresse que nous recommandons chaleureusement à tous !
