Ipswich (/ˈɪpswɪtʃ/ ( listen)) is the county town of Suffolk, England, located on the estuary of the River Orwell, about 60 miles (97 km) north east of London. The town has been continuously occupied since the Saxon period, and its port has been one of England's most important for the whole of its history.

Step back in time and look with wonder through Victorian Eyes. a purpose built museum from the mid Victorian era with stuffed animals, egyptian mummys, and fossils from far and wide. Lots of workshops for families and young children. Close to Christchrch Park with Christchurch Mansion.

This museum is a credit to the Dedication of the Volunteers who have brought the former generator room, of the defunct USA communications centre, back to life as an aviation museum documenting Suffolk aviation. The volunteer staff were very friendly and helpful. Cafe for coffee, cakes etc. I would recommend this place if you have an hour to spare on the outskirts of Ipswich.

We are two grown ups and we had a really lovely day! What a fabulous sight on Orwell Quay, Ipswich! Monday’s is 20% off admission. Staff are welcoming and informative. There are clean loos on board and the little cafe was open for tasty coffee and croissants. The film was not functional, but we wouldn’t have had time anyway. In the shop, we bought reindeer fur, pearls formed in an oyster shell and some pretty mineralised rock (the giant crystals on display are fabulous!). Thank you to those who recommended dressing warm for wintry days! We were blessed and found free on-street parking nearby. Apparently most people spend 1&1/2 hours here, but we stayed 2&1/2 and would have enjoyed more time if we’d been able. We lingered over the sculptures, stories, construction and many books. There are a number of true Biblical revelations eg the meaning of the two trees in the garden of Eden and the artist’s story of the heart-shaped mirror representing Jesus, which broke in construction, to mention just a couple. Strangely, the Old Testament representations were far more lively and visitor friendly than the New, which seemed a bit traditional in comparison. Somehow, what Jesus did on the cross doesn’t quite come through... But we think there is something here for everybody. So go with an open mind and forgive the entry fee, as the project cost millions and it is lovingly done. The owners are hoping that their stay will be extended beyond 31st March 2020 and will know Friday 13th March re permission to remain til the summer.
