I highly recommend the tour with Ed. Initially I was the only one who came and we actually started the tour - I was very positively surprised because sometimes in other cities if only one or two people come, they cancel the tour. The tour was very informative and Ed was keen to answer all of my numerous questions. He is a very interesting person with rich knowledge about history, traveling and culture (not only Finnish one).

It was an experience of a lifetime! My cheerful tour guide, Anthony, was on time as we started at 10 PM from Rovaniemi. We drove to a base camp about 55 km from the Rovaniemi city center, and then climbed a hill called Kätkävaara with another assistant Ella. The night was clear and moonless, so conditions for aurora-watching were great. Sure enough, a long pale green arc right across the star-filled sky could be seen, though it remained like this for a very long time without changing. Anthony explained in detail how the aurora is formed, and patiently answered all my questions :) Despite the cold and lack of action, he waited, and finally our patience were rewarded as we were able to see a quite bright display of flickering as 2 separate arcs seemed to form. A moment to remember! We then went inside a small 'cabin' on the hill, and had sausages and hot chocolate sitting around a fire Anthony and Ella lit earlier. Later I learnt I was quite lucky, as the aurora prediction for that night was quite bleak! Aurora viewing needs luck, but that does not change the service provided by Anthony of Lapland Welcome, which was simply fantastic. Such warm behavior made withstanding the cold while waiting for the aurora display not only tolerable, but also enjoyable! The photography was Anthony was also brilliant!! Thank you, Lapland Welcome!
