Woodlawn is a 180-acre historic estate located a quarter mile from downtown Ellsworth, Maine. Once home to three generations of the Black family, it is now treasured for its historic house museum, its gardens, and its public park. Visitors can explore a superb historic house, stroll through beautiful gardens, play croquet, hike on pristine trails, and much more.
Woodlawn is open in December with beautifully decorated trees done by local businesses. They also have tea on Wednesday and Friday. Everything in the gift shop was 20 to 40% off. We both enjoyed the self guided tour that let us look around at our own pace. We will definitely go back this summer to see the spacious grounds.

St. Saviour is an historic Episcopal church. The oldest part of the church was begun in 1876; later parts were added through 1901, including the renowned collection of stained glass windows by Tiffany and others. The parish is still active today, and we invite you to visit for a tour, for worship, or just for a moment of quiet respite in your day. During the tourist season (June - October), the church is open daily from about 8:30 - 4:30 for self-guided tours. Guided tours Sunday 11:15 (after the 10:00 Eucharist) and other times by appointment. The Church office (next door) is open as posted in the "hours" section. May God continue to bless you!
The stained glass windows in this church are so unique and beautiful. The church was empty the day we walked in and we were able to take it all in without a lot of people around us. Very beautiful and worth a stop.

Its a small spot, but interesting and nice view of the ocean from the cannon!! The apple tree there had about 500 apples on the ground!

There is a cute visitor center which you can't go into due to Covid - BUT the Ranger stands in doorway and answers any questions you might have and has maps of trails, all behind Plexiglas. There is two VERY easy and smooth and quick trails here perfect for people that might have disabilities and can't do the more intense trails. Also very large and labeled wild-garden that you can wonder through in a one way direction with mask on! Wild life can be found on the trails
