Jesus Trail

Reviewed By redSiberia

We just hiked this trail last week. The weather in May can be unpredictable here and it turned out to be very hot with temperatures reaching low 100's each day;-( That made the hike very challenging for us as my wife and I are in our early 60's. However, we met couples in their 80's on the trail! We each drank more that 3 liters each day and our Osprey backpacks with 3L bladders were a lifesaver. I would definitely recommend this trail if you want to see the real Israel and experience the different cultures (i.e., Get Off the Bus!). We arranged the 4 night trip/hike with Abraham Tours so the inns along the way were arranged by them and each one was excellent. The first two inns we stayed at were Arab and the last two were Jewish. The food was good in each one and plentiful. The hike is advertised as a little over 40 miles but our total was over 50 since we got lost a few times. We wind up walking a little over 12 miles each day. We walked in a small group with a guide with others and that made the experience even better. Our guide, Beny Yonin, was awesome! Try to get him if you do this as a guided hike through Abraham Tours. His teachings along the way made the experience even better. Great hike, great experience, great memories!

Nahal Amud

I have hiked this trail several times since the first time in 1981, but this was the first time in about 10 years. One of my (and many others') favorites. The staff at the station are professional and polite. The trail is well marked, and maintained, and not much harder than ten years ago (although much easier than in the 80's when the trail was free, with scant markings and 0 maintenance). Green all year, the stream is running even after a long dry summer. Lots of shade, lots of quiet spots to dip your feet. Its very popular with schools for field trips and is packed in the summer. Early November is a perfect time weather-wise and we only met 2 school outings, and had the trail mostly to ourselves. And, despite advanced age and a seriously bad back, we still managed the 3 hour trail in just over 3 hours! Looking forward to doing it again in 2029!
