The Bío Bío Region (BEE-oh-BEE-oh; Spanish: Región del Bío-Bío pronounced [ˌbi.oˈβi.o]), is one of Chile's fifteen first-order administrative divisions; it is divided into four provinces: Arauco, Bío Bío, Concepción, and Ñuble. It is also known by its original denomination: VIII Region. Concepción is the capital and largest city. Other important cities include Chillán, Coronel, Hualpén, Los Ángeles, and Talcahuano.

Las Chilcas trail is part of Laguna del Laja National Park in Antuco at Bio Bio distric (Southern Chile). You will apreciate waterfalls and small native forest with "chilcas flowers" surrounded by volcanic landscacape. At this point the water from glaciers and Laja Lagoon (the biggest natural reservoir in Chile) join to give birth to Laja river.
Sierra Velluda Volcano is one of the main attractions in Laguna del Laja National Park. It is a dormant volcano with a 3495 metres above sea level. You can find an auto guided trail about 5 hours or do the 2 days circuit with local guides. You will enjoy a volcanic landscape with a solified lava river, waterfalls and glaciers. On winter you can do randonee.
