A visit to this site has always been overlooked during our visits to Fremantle, but on this occasion the visit took precedence. The area is an eleven acre public reserve with manicured lawns and rose beds, all so well maintained that the visitor can sense a great pride in the monument and its surrounds. It dates to 1928 and consists of a large central obelisk surrounded by smaller memorials commemorating the Merchant Mariners, Netherlands Ex-Servicemen's Association, RAN Corvettes, the RAN in Vietnam, Royal Marines, Royal Navy and US submariners memorial. Tributes both to the bravery of men and women and the cost of conflict. Lest We Forget.

Great beach just to the south of the sailing club. Big enough for lots of room for the dogs to run, swim and play whilst happy owners (all seem pretty responsible picking up poo tooo) wander along the beach or sit and relax. Friday, Sat and Sunday there is a coffee cart on the grassed area at the north end next to the sailing club and a few seats. Fantastic spot for a morning, afternoon or heck anytime stroll. Only suggestion is if you are without dogs and want a relaxing lie on the beach Id go elsewhere as although well meaning the dogs will run everywhere...

Dogs love this beach. This western edge of the Australian continent is given over to pooches who can run, jump bark and have fun. They can jump in and out the water. Although they often growl and chase each other, they rarely come to blows.
