5 Forests in Seoul That You Shouldn't Miss

March 18, 2022 Nicolette Lion

Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.

Yongmasan

This is not a high mountain. It's a really nice hiking for 2~3 hours. But, the difficulty was high. There are many steep tracks. Some points needed to pass with a lot of concentration. Not recommended to young kids & seniors above 70. - We started from Yongma Waterfall Park(Metro Line #7 Yongmasan Station) and ended to Daewon High School. - There's a very good observation deck with a panoramic view. And Yongmabong Peak is about 5 min from there. Several routes are meeting at Yongmabong. - On the way to Achasan Mountain, there's a flat branching point with no sign. Left continues to Achansan and right is the end to Daewon High School. I recommend going on to Achasan if you aren't exhausted and have some more time.

Surak Mountain

I enjoy climbing/hiking up the mountains of Korea, and Surak Mountain (Suraksan) has excellent views. The climb is good exercise, but not overly taxing. If the weather is nice, you'll see a lot of other hikers. I highly recommend.

5. Maebong Mountain Park
