My husband and I had a great afternoon with what seemed like our long lost friend, Kwame. Our super chill tour started promptly and went on with what seemed like no set agenda at all. Kwame had foods he wanted us to try, of course, but the tour ebbed and flowed both with conversation and stops the more we talked. It seemed like he learned about what we liked and tailored the tour just to us. If sure that's not true, but it really felt like that. The tour went on a bit longer than it should've but only ended because we had to make our transportation back to our lodging! Otherwise, my guess is it would've turned into a drinking tour...haha. He went above and beyond for us on multiple occasions, especially by buying more phone minutes to call to see if we could have our arranged transport time changed. The food was a super fun and eclectic mix of traditional to surprising, each found through corridors that led us to photogenic and hidden-in-plain sight courtyards lush with landscaping, murals, and colorful tile work. An afternoon with Kwame will set you up for a week filled with lists of places to return and more good food to eat. Sadly, we didn't have the time, so we'll just have to come back!

a great disappointment being a connoisseur of chocolate, i bought chocolate (bars) which unfortunately had been on display for too long. The dark chocolate was simply blanched, grainy and inedible ... I do not recommend it ... To be avoided ... Unfortunately chocolate is too expensive in Guatemala and cannot be sold ...

Just took this class today, May 2021. I would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a good cooking class and an introduction to typical Guatemalan foods. The host was very kind and welcoming and the chef, Ingrid, was lovely, patient and experienced. We also appreciated the fact that it was outside on the rooftop terraza, so important these days during the pandemic. We made pepian (a very yummy, traditional stew), rellenitos de platano (super delicious desert), tortillas (much harder than it looks!), arroz con verduras, tostadas with toppings, and rosa de jamaica to drink. We both live in Guatemala, but we still learned a lot. Plus, we had a super delicious lunch in the end!

For Spring Break, my family of 4 traveled to Antigua, Guatemala. We were lucky to locate ViaGuate as our transportation and tour provider. Hernan, the owner/manager, was very responsive to our needs throughout our travel. Alejandro, one of his tour guides, spoke very good English, provided excellent tour services, and even provided great local recommendations for shops and restaurants. We used ViaGuate for our airport transportation services as well as private tours of Picaya Volcano, Monterrico Beach, Lake Atitlan, and the Iximche ruins. I would highly recommend ViaGuate and all of these tours. Thanks again Hernan and Alejandro for your excellent service!
