Bintan Regency is an administrative area in the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia. Bintan Regency includes all of Bintan Island (except for the city of Tanjung Pinang which is separately administered as an autonomous area of the island) and also includes a few minor outlying islands.

Panglong Village is a settlement where the majority of the population lives as fishermen. But the difference is, this village has several unique buildings, namely the charcoal kitchen which is shaped like a dome like an eskimo tribal house, this area is even known as the largest producer of charcoal on Bintan Island in around 1920. In addition, the seafarers residing in the village are also known as conquerors of the sea in the past. They are known to have the expertise to survive in the ocean, avoid storms, waves and are skilled in hunting fish.

The sand dunes that look like the desert is one of the picturesque spots for tourists in Bintan Island. Although seems to be naturally made, the sand dunes are the result of mining excavation after the ban on sand exports. Near the place, there is a lake that offers clear blue waters.

Very well organised, unfotunately we were not luky to see animals. They were on time picking us from the hotel and gave is lot of details about the environnement and how the mangrove is growing.
