The historic Jackson Hole Playhouse brings you a full evening of Western entertainment, from gun-slingin', singing waiters to fully-staged musical comedies. You can kick off your boots and enjoy true Western hospitality at Wyoming's longest running professional dinner theatre. Lunch 11:30am-3pm. Dinner 6:30. Pre-Show7:30. Curtain 8:00.
We only saw the show (and the preview, which was excellent), and were very impressed by the professionalism and enthusiasm. The reworking of the plot of the classic comedy western Cat Ballou was very clever, and I was very happy that one of the main characters was played excellently by an actor from my home state. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with this spur of the moment recommendation of our hotel concierge, recommend it enthusiastically to children of all ages, and it will be on our itinerary when we return.

If you are looking for a fun evening with good wholesome entertainment then this is the excursion for you. I took my Uncle to this as a surprise when we first arrived in Jackson. I know he enjoys history, stories of the old west and western TV shows. We were greeted by a gentleman dressed as a cowboy (the MC) who laid out the nights events. We then loaded up into covered wagons and took a 30 min. scenic ride to a covered pavilion. Our driver talked about the area on our drive out. We arrived to a heated covered pavilion and were treated to roast beef, barbecue chicken as well as all the fixin's. A group of young people as well as the MC joked and interacted with the audience. Next they gave a great little concert that had everyone clapping along. This was well worth the money and great family experience.

The atmosphere at the Bar J Chuckwagon is awesome. Seating assignments begin about two hours before dinner, and I'd recommend you arrive early. We arrived later and were 10 picnic tables back, which felt like a long way from the stage. Once your seating assignment is made, you can do the activities around the ranch: kid train ride, eat a dutch oven biscuit, look at the blacksmith items, nature walk, etc. Dinner was an "authentic" cowboy supper: meat, baked potato, bbq beans, applesauce, bread, cake, lemonade. The applesauce and the cake were great. All the other food was so-so. If I did it again, I would have paid more for chicken or steak. We got the BBQ beef, which was small pieces of beef in bbq sauce. Not really tasty. The lemonade was like watered down country time mix. But there were seconds until the food was gone, so my teenagers got enough to eat. Plate size is really big. The music show was awesome. These guys are legit pro entertainers. So fun and so funny! A joke a minute. Their fiddler won the national and international fiddle competition - twice. And hope that "Granny" pays a visit!
