Currently closed due lockdown - hope to be open every day from the 3rd December. Find out about the lead mining heritage of Derbyshire from Roman Times to the present. Interactive exhibits, mock tunnels and shafts to climb, moving models. The new Matlock Bath Through Time exhibition tells the story of a village that was one of the top Georgian Spas in the country. Then visit Temple Mine and find out what it was really like working underground followed by a try at gold panning. Suitable for all ages. Family ticket £28 (2A and 3C)
Due to Coronovirus we had a guided tour of the mine just to our little family. Chris, our guide, was really friendly and very knowledgeable on the mine and its operations. After the mine, we did some gold panning and all came away with a little haul of fools gold and amethyst. The museum was great with loads of information about the area and its mining history. Some interactive exhibits for the youngster's too. Its a shame covid has forced them to close the climbing tunnels but perfectly understandable. Great shop as well with loads of rocks and gems available to buy as well as books on mines and the local area. Really friendly staff topped the visit off. Would definitely recommend.

"Step back in time" in the Working Textile Museum at Sir Richard Arkwright's 1783 showpiece Masson Mills, the finest surviving and best preserved example of an Arkwright cotton spinning mill. Let the sights, smells and sounds of historic working textile machinery transport you into the past and bring Arkwright's legacy to life. Shopping village, restaurant and car park on site. Gateway to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
Have passed the mill many times and having seen it on TV decided to pay a visit. The museum is fascinating and if you time it right, well worth paying the extra to see the boiler house and steam engine in operation. The latter had only been open 10 weeks and is absolutely incredible. Thanks to Andrew and Kevin for the very informative tour and demonstrations.

We visited Lovers Walk with our golden labrador Hugo. The path was well defined but was a little steep in places for my partner who suffers with a bad knee. The views from the top were lovely but in places there were sheer drops and we were worried our dog might venture off the path and fall down. Luckily this didn't happen. The circular walk gave views to Gulliver's Kingdom and the cable cars as well. At the end if the walk there were several fish and chip shops and several ice cream, chocolate and fudge shops. Of course we could resist. A pleasant hour spent here

The Aquarium and Exhibitions are located in a wonderful Victorian building in the centre of Matlock Bath, this is a popular collection of unique attractions for all the family to visit and enjoy. As well as our fascinating Aquarium that houses over 50 species of fish there is :• One of the largest public displays of Holograms in Europe.• The Thermal Pool which is the home of our famous Carp collection. • The site of the only remaining 'Petrifying well' in Matlock Bath. • A beautiful worldwide Gemstone & Fossil display.• A wonderful trip down memory lane in our 'Past Times in Matlock Bath' Exhibition.• A private collection of Goss and Crested China. totaling over 1,700 pieces. • We also offer a fish sales, rescue and re housing service.
This aquarium is really sweet and unique, a good collection of fish and turtles. The petrifying well is also unique how it turns things to stone. Don’t expect lots and lots of fish here as it’s only a few rooms but for the price of £3.30, you cannot really grumble, it’s such a reasonable fee. The aquarium is actually in an old Victorian swimming baths and I love how they have converted the old pool into a huge koi carp pond. You can just imagine it how it used to be, a lot of the original features still exist. Really worth going to when going to Matlock Bath! I recommend!
