This is a hidden gem. We visited twice, once through Negombo, and once on the public beach. The beach was so nice it made no sense to leave it and visit the fake thermal pools at Negombo. A thermal stream vents into this beach water so it is warm and clear. Clear enough to collect dentalium and shells, and I even found a bit of ancient pottery well worn by the gentle waves. Very safe for kids to swim as it is shallow even far out. Yachts bring swimmers and snorkelers here too. Bring food, an umbrella for shade, and a towel or chair and make use of the snack bar on the public side. Don't wait too late as they sell out of food. Be prepared for no toilet seats (even at Negombo) and confusion as you must order everything from a small window, then proceed to the larger one for pick up...even for water. Better than Australian beaches as there are no flies!

I visited the beautiful Basilica di Santa Restituta during my week in Ischia in September 2019. The piazza and church are lovely, and I was lucky to start a conversation with the caretaker who gave me a terrific tour. (She is an older woman and I believe speaks only Italian.) Many of the paintings in the church tell the story of Santa Restituta and the finding of her body in Baia di San Montano. Overall Lacco Ameno is a picturesque town with a variety of restaurants. Enchanting place to spend the day. There is regular bus service to Ischia Porto and on to Forio.
