Catedral de Marmol

The so called marble cathedral and marble caves was the most memorable area we saw in Chile. We were in Chile the whole 2019 and visited every one of their regions. We went to the Atacama desert and the town of San Pedro de Atacama. We went to the Torres del Paine area. But the General Carrera Lake was the highlight of the year. We went to Puerto Rio Tranquilo and took a "full day" boat ride that took us to the marble cabinets area and then to the marble chapel, marble caves and to the marble cathedral. Here are a few photos.

Lago Jeinimeni National Reserve

We camped 3 nights here at the entrance and loved the place. Day hikes to the Silencio trail, Mirador trail and Lago Esmeralda were spectacular and not difficult. The wildflowers blanketed the meadows. Helpful CONAF ranger support staff. Be aware, it can get very cold at night. Also, we couldn't make it to the Raleigh campground due to the high water crossing at Rio Jeinimeni.

Jeinimeni Lake

On the way to “Parque nacional Patagonia you can visit “Cueva de los manos” and the “Piedra clavada”, it is spectacular. It’s quite steep up and down and it can be with strong winds. But the view from the viewpoint is great. The way to the parque is long but the “ripio” wasn’t’t bad. The campgroung “El silencio” is really nice, basic equipment but you can have a hot shower. There are different walks from half an hour to hikings up to five days in the new parque (before there were three “reservas”, since last year there is just one national parquet going south to the “Lago Cochrane”. Bring your own food and drinks because there you won’t find anything.
