Thirteen hundred years ago, Nara (then Heiju-kyu) was the imperial capital of Japan. "Old Japan" is still easy to spot here, from Great Buddha Hall to traditional ryokans and the serene Isuien garden. Travelers rave about walking tours of Nara, particularly in the historic Naramachi merchant area.

We finished our day off at the brewery after walking many kms to Nara's outskirt temples. The sake was a warming relief from the cold elements outside and we had the 5 sakes and pickles. We liked each sake for their varying characteristics and it extended our knowledge. Consequently we bought each Sake and thoroughly enjoyed them during our trip in Japan. We were not disappointed with them subsequently. The surrounding area of the Brewery has lovely artisan shops and is nice for a stroll as well.
