5 Biking Trails in United Arab Emirates That You Shouldn't Miss

August 21, 2021 Marianna Hollaway

Nomadic tribal heritage and modern society co-exist in the UAE, a federation of seven emirates at the southeastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Look beyond the desert that consumes four-fifths of its area and you'll find UAE capital Abu Dhabi, an oil-rich city of skyscrapers, parks and malls, and Dubai, with its split personality of luxury resorts and covered marketplaces, upscale boutiques and local artisans. For a break from urban sprawl, journey over rolling red sand dunes into the Hatta Mountains, where the 200-year-old Sharia Mosque sits amid 30 restored buildings of sandalwood and mud.

This another a lovely ‘get active’ outdoor destination. Cycling, walking, running, roller blading, cycle rental options, distance and hill climb options, a variety of food trucks, loads of parking! The track is clean, well maintained monitored. As I solo female cyclist, I feel safe no matter if I’m riding in the dark alone. And on track safety is good, people respect the track ‘rules’ in my experience. Grateful to have such places open to the public for free ????????????????

Built in 2012, and extended many times, this amazing facility provides a high quality cycling track, showers and support facilities - all for free. Well kept, and regularly cleared of desert sand. Options for experienced riders looking to clock up 100+km, or shorter routes and loops for the less experienced. A real feather in Dubai's cap.

The biking trails are colour-coded (like ski runs) in terms of difficulty so we could choose one that suited our level. The bikes are in good condition - we had a great time riding the trails for an hour.

I had a great riding experience on my first time at Al Wathba track. It’s safe, well maintained, ample car parking, a little shop for essentials, lots of distance options and a wide one way track which has excellent signage ???? Stunning scenery to take in while you move those legs!! ????‍♂️
