A highly recommended MUST DO activity if you want to avoid the “touristy” areas! Go to local spots and try different kinds of seasonal and authentic dishes for an unforgettable culinary journey. We begin our tour by entering the chasm of eateries overrun on a nightly basis by the working class of Japan. Then we will stop for local bites and an introduction to drinking and dining culture in Tokyo, and then continue to wind our way to head to another spot that specializes in Oden, a standard of Japanese home-cooking that just cannot be missed. Then you will get to try Yakitori- world-famous Japanese meat and veggie BBQ skewers grilled over charcoal in a classic "Under the Tracks" restaurant. After, you will have a chance to indulge in a savory bowl of RAMEN. We will show you how to order, what the basics are, and help you practice your SLURPING techniques! Finally taste a special traditional dessert, where you will have the opportunity to watch this being cooked in front of you.

While we were sad to have to cancel our July trip to Japan due to the pandemic, we found the process of working with Japan Awaits to be easy and efficient. I can't speak to the full experience since we weren't able to go, but filling out the form and our communication with the company was no problem. And their prompt and courteous response to our request for a refund speaks to their professionalism. We will definitely come back to ask for their help in procuring tickets to the Studio Ghibli Museum when we do finally make it to Japan! Fingers crossed for next summer.

5. Private Tokyo Tour with a Japanese Guide

Do you want to travel with a Japanese young guide? This is a perfect tour for you. I used to be a tour leader. I traveled all over Japan with many travelers(see photos). Through my experience, I notice that some people feel tired of listening to too many explanations and generation does not much to you (tour guides are older? etc.). Though I am not a professional guide anymore, I am pretty sure that we can have a wonderful full-day tour with me. I can show you real Japanese life. I sometimes come with my friends or change an itinerary. My tour is fully customizable.

Inclusions: Tea ceremony fee, Guide fee

Exclusions: Transportation fee
