Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site

The Battle of Bentonville, fought March 19-21, 1865, was the last full-scale action of the Civil War in which a Confederate army was able to mount a tactical offensive. This major battle, the largest ever fought in North Carolina, was the only significant attempt to defeat the large Union army of Gen. William T. Sherman during its march through the Carolinas in the spring of 1865.

There was so much to see and learn about the Civil War. There are walking tours as well as a 10 mile( if you dont get lost ), driving tour. They have a gift shop with nice souvenirs. The Haprer House was the highlight of the tour. If you enjoy history, a definite must see.

Super humbling place to go check out the battlefield of a key battle in American History. We were here in November after the hurricane so part of the battlefield was under water, the bridge and swamp were a swamp. either way it still allowed us to walk around most of the battlefield and read the different information along the path. Really interesting place to check out and explore a piece of our History

Averasboro Battlefield & Museum

A Civil War battlefield that has remained nearly untouched since the war.

After visiting a national parks civil war site (Richmond Tredegar) and a State site (Battle of Bentonville), I was very impressed by this battlefield site maintained by a preservation group! They have done a remarkable job in less than 10 years. Was happy to support their worthy effort.
