Colorado is home to no less than twenty-six ski resorts such as those in Vail and Breckenridge; other winter activities include snowboarding, sledding, sleigh rides, snow hiking and snowmobiling. The state is blessed with national parks, grasslands and forests where in warmer weather you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking or rock climbing. Wildlife abounds, from bears to moose and raccoons to wolverines. More interested in local history? Head for either the Ute Indian Museum or the Koshare Indian Museum, and don't miss the forts such as Fort Garland and Bent's Old Fort. For a complete change, why not take a ride in a hot air balloon from South Park Valley or Boulder and admire Colorado's picturesque landscape from above?

The altiude and my lack of physical stamina limited me from the best this park has to offer. However, there are overlooks which provide everyone with a chance to see some the spectacular views. In order to get into some the tours you must book ahead of time. The Far View Terrace Restaurant provides cafeteria style food. The restaurant staff is friendly.

My wife and I just had the most amazing experience taking the full-day Mesa Verde tour with our tour guide Greg! The sights were beyond breathtaking and he was able to take us places off the beaten path, which was such a special treat. He took the time to listen at the beginning of the tour and designed a day exactly what we were hoping for. His knowledge of the area and passion for what he does shines through during the entire tour. We recommend that anyone wanting to experience Mesa Verde National Park use Mesa Verde Tours and ask for Greg, you will have a great time!

Mesa Verde was the worlds first archaeological National Park and one of the first UNESCO designations in the U.S. The sites and ruins are greatly enhanced by a tour guides passion and knowledge of the area including flora and fauna, geology, native peoples and its historical archaeological record. There is a story and mystery at Mesa Verde that can't be obtained through sight seeing alone.

We all love Mesa Verde National Park: it represents the "tip of the iceberg" of the Ancestral Pueblo culture in Southwest Colorado. Increase the depth of your knowledge by visiting Canyons of the Ancients National Monument (CANM) with an experienced guide from SCCA (Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance)! CANM was dedicated by Presidential decree in 2000 to protect the estimated 30,000 cultural sites and spectacular scenery within its 176,000-acre boundary. This region is the ancestral homeland of today’s Hopi, Zuni, and Pueblo people in New Mexico and Arizona. Your guide will share little-known places within the Monument and a deep understanding the landscape and cultures that lived here. Group sizes are limited to 14, so your guide will be able to address any questions you have about the history, geology, plant and animal life, and archaeology of the region. As the Friends of Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, SCCA guides know ALL the best places!
Inclusions: Museum entrance fee when tour includes museum.
Exclusions: No food, drink, or transportation included.
