I really recommend this tour. Done in English the guide was knowledgeable, informative and helped make the tour a success. The story of “Jerez” is so interesting, and complex. So much history in this small family owned bodega

Really enjoyed the your around the vinyards and then the winery...Roberto was a fountain of knowledge and made my 10yr olds day when he gave him a small bunch of grapes to eat...then when it came to the wine tasting, he took his time to explain the colour of the wines and the tastes asking us all what we thought of each one..Ready good tour ending in us purchasing 12 bottles between the 5 of us.... thanks you deserve 5 stars..hope the wedding went well....

In 1890, La Rioja Alta SA was founded by five families sharing a common passion for wine. It was the start of an ongoing quest for excellence that their descendants still pursue. Since then we have managed to extract the best from the marriage of our tradition in wine ageing, to state-of-the-art technology in grape fermentation. Our wines (Viña Ardanza, Gran Reserva 904, etc.) have become an international reference for the finest Rioja wines.
Toured this fantastic winery guided by Bella was very informative and had a wonderful wine tasting at the end of the tour. Very educational and I would recommend this to everyone. They make their own barrels from American oak.

The bodega is situated on a hill at an altitude of 350m and 15 km from the Mediterranean Sea. In 2008 we started on 1 hectare a small vineyard with 3 types of grapes, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. We don't use chemical pesticides or artificial fertilizers and don't add yeast or sulphite. We do not filter the wine crystal clear in order to maintain their optimal flavour and colour. From 2018 we only grow Chardonnay. We are not a commercial vineyard, but show and explain how white and red wine is made. At the wine tasting, we taste the chardonnay and 2 red wines that we have produced in recent years. Visits by appointment for a tour and a tasting.
My wife and I have visited many wineries with tours and tasting all over the place, but the visit at the small family owned Remsamen Bodega surpassed our earlier experiences. The hosts, Marjelijn and Rene', gave us a both personal and knowledgeable presentation and tour about the history of the winery, their own experiences and, of course, the secrets of wine making. So much the better that their wines were both good and affordable and were savoured together with some cheese, salami and quiche. We can warmly recommend a visit at Remsamen Bodega????

Marques de Murrieta is an older than 165 years-old winery where the deep respect for the history and the tradition finds a perfect balance with the focus on the future. Its origin dates from 1852 when Luciano Murrieta y Garcia -Lemoine produces the first fine wine from Rioja and is the first one to export it. He acquires the Ygay Estate and builds his emblematic Ygay Castle. In 1983 Vicente Cebrian Sagarriga, tenth Count of Creixell, takes over the project and after his death in 1996, his children, who are currently responsible of such an ambitious and endearing family business that they strengthen day after day with its presence in the different continents. The uniqueness and quality of the Marques de Murrieta wines is determined, to a great extent, by the singular caracter of the Ygay Estate, 300 hectares of own vineyards located around the winery, which allow the absolute control of the raw material. Extremely enjoyable from beginning to end. Very helpful staff, we booked at short notice and they made the process very easy online by answering any queries and responding quickly. Amazing building to visit, a historical winery. Excellent wines tasted, paired with some very good food (we had aperitivos only, not a meal). Small group, and the guide (Natalia) was so knowledgeable and passionate it was made even more enjoyable. Short distance from Logroño and absolutely worthwhile if you are visiting the area, you will learn about La Rioja wines, history and it is an overall great experience. We did it in Spanish but they offer other languages, I recommend you book in advance if you want to secure a visit in another language.

If you want to discover the true taste of Rioja, there is no better place than Campo Viejo winery. You will see how wines are made, discover our environmentally friendly practices and enjoy a wine tasting session of our favourite vintages. During the visit, you will learn about the history of Campo Viejo, our innovative winery with one of the most impressive barrel ageing rooms in the world, our commitment to environment and much more.
We worked with the representatives from Pernod, like Raul Cotelo to make arrangements for a tour and tasting. At 12 euros, it was the best buy on day 1 of our 7 day adventure into 25 wineries in La Rioja. We were greeted by a most informed employee who hosted the tour and tasting. He took us through a discussion of the vineyards which really enlightened us. Part of the tour was a walk through the fermentation and storage tanks. It is an immense structure, all working by gravity feed and no pumping anywhere. See photos which represent only a fraction of the stainless steel tank capacity. We were staggered by the fact that they are able to keep individual lots/vineyards separated from dozens of growers during the fermentation and oak barrel ageing processes. That approach takes a huge commitment to storage. They do it to preserve the best product for later bottling and blending. Very impressive. Since La Rioja DOC requires varying lengths of bottle aging of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva, much of the inventory is tied up in bottles awaiting labeling. Lots of warehouse space is allocated to do this bottle aging. See photos and realize that again, it represents only a portion of the floor space for their production. This was our first tasting of La Rioja wines in a Bodega. What we were expecting was the mini-sipping quantities so commonly poured in CA. What we got were glasses which were 1/2 filled and revisiting offered on all wines. We loved the Spanish/Basque hospitality of La Rioja Enotourism, but noting that we were driving, we had to manage our intake. DUI blood levels are lower in Spain. At the end of the tour, we sampled 4 wines (and local food products for pairing) including a rarely made commemorative wine. It was simply divine. We would not hesitant to offer any of the Campo Viejo wines to friends and family. They were expertly made and it showed in the bottle. Campo Viejo has combined high volume with high quality wine production. We did not know it at the time, but we would only find that unique capability at one other La Rioja winery. We later found many large and small producers who did not measure up to the quality of Campo Viejo. Bravo, to the owners of Campo Viejo. We are now looking for it in the USA.

We visited with 2 children (3 and 7) and were hosted for the visit by Victor. Having booked the tour by email at 1730 the night before the visit, we were pleasantly surprised that there was only us and another group of 2. The visit cost 12€ (Free for kids) and included a walk through the bodegas with an excellent description of how the different types of sherries are made and how they all differ in taste. It also included tasting 5 different sherries, 2 straight from the cask, which was a real novelty. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sanlúcar. Thank you to Victor for being such a great host.

In 1861 Francesc Sala Ferres founded Casa Sala, the first wine-exporting company in Sant Sadurni d’Anoia. His son, Joan Sala Tubella, carried the business forward and after the wedding of Joan’s daughter Dolors Sala Vive to Pere Ferrer Bosch, the company entered the cava business. Pere Ferrer Bosch came from the family that owned La Freixeneda, a family estate in existence since the 13th Century and located in the Alt Penedes region. The business grew and the first labels for Freixenet Casa Sala cava appeared. From the beginning it was decided to concentrate exclusively on the production of cava, a natural sparkling wine, following the method used in the Champagne region (France) since the XVIIIth century. They built their cellars in the town of Sant Sadurni d’Anoia in Catalonia, Spain. The town is located in the heart of the Penedes, a region famous since Roman times for the quality of the wine produced there. In the 1920s and 1930s the company gained recognition thanks to the drive of its founders and the guaranteed quality of its products. It was at this time that the company started to export its products and it opened its first United States office in New Jersey in 1935. Unfortunately, the development of the company was held back first by the Spanish Civil War and then by the Second World War. Nevertheless, in 1941 the company launched what would in time become one of its star products—Freixenet Carta Nevada cava. In 1974 its leading export brand, Freixenet Cordon Negro cava, was launched, present in more than 140 countries. By the beginning of the 1970s Freixenet was well established in the Spanish market as a strong brand with a clear vocation to expand on the international stage. The constant efforts made by the company since then have led to continuous expansion in world markets and made the Freixenet Group in the mid 80’s the world leader in sparkling wines produced by the traditional method. At this time, the company decides to build cellars abroad, such is the case of Gloria Ferrer in California, Wingara in Australia and many more, and also in Spain, in other wine areas of great reputation such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Montsant, ... Nowadays Freixenet Group keeps being a 100% family-owned company with 18 cellars in 7 countries in 3 continents.
The trip to Freixenet was amazing and really special! Our guide Montse Miro was amazing, she personifies amazing hospitality. She gave us a great tour of the cellars and then ensure we had an informative Cava tasing. She even provided us with a few extra Cava samples so that I could purchase some for myself. I would definitely come back again, not just for the winery but to meet Montse, thank you for making my birthday special.
