Paramoor Winery was established in 2005 by Will Fraser, and is already one of the most popular and awarded wineries in the Macedon Ranges.A boutique operation, Paramoor Winery is not about mass production. Quality always comes before quantity – and there is quality in everything the winery does. From the meticulous selection of grapes for Paramoor’s wine, to the perfectly elegant homemade pizzas that are served at the cellar door, every detail is considered… and the results speak for themselves. In just a short time Paramoor’s wines have attracted international recognition, with high praise coming from the likes of Australia’s most recognised wine critic, James Halliday, who has awarded Paramoor 5 stars and called Paramoor an ‘excellent producer of very high quality wines’ and has judged several Paramoor wines to be among the best in the nation. Paramoor Winery’s cellar door tasting and sales area, converted from old stables, draws a crowd as much for its relaxed ambience and thoughtful displays of history, as for its outstanding wines and pizza. A visit to Paramoor is a must for anyone touring the picturesque Macedon Ranges. Paramoor Winery ….. award winning wines, great food, and a cellar door that is fast becoming the most talked about in the region.
This is a rustic experience that we loved. Wine tasting is in a large barn on an old couch with few visitors to compete with. The owner loves his craft and is happy to take visitors through his range. We enjoyed the pinots, both red and white, and left with a case at $25 per bottle. Very enjoyable

Went to one of Curly Flat’s amazing lunches with Frank Camorra and the MoVida team. The food and wines were superb. The day was perfect and the winery was looking lovely. Particular favourites were the 2017 Pinot Noir and a back vintage of 2011 Chardonnay. Jeni and the team could not do enough to make everyone welcome.

Musk Lane Wine is an artisanal wine producer located in the town centre of Kyneton in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, just over an hours drive from Melbourne. Hidden down a laneway out of view, Musk Lane Wine blurs the lines between urban winery, cellar door, wine bar and beer garden. Artisanal, small-batch wines from Macedon Ranges, Heathcote and Bendigo hand crafted with minimal intervention.
We were a group of 10 for lunch (2 course for $30), great food, even better wine made right there from locally grown grapes. If you want genuine, amazing quality wine, if you want to see where and how, if you want talk to the people who make it, if you want a genuine experience, go to ML. The old shed where the bar is in an old timber yard in the middle of town, hidden down a laneway, the garden is lovely. Best venue in town.

The Hanging Rock Winery was established in 1983 in the Macedon Ranges (Australia’s Coolest grape growing region), one hour drive from Melbourne, Victoria. The property was purchased by John & Ann Ellis who between them already had around 30 years industry of experience. Their aim was to make Australia’s best sparkling wine. Many who should know, believe that they have achieved this with their Macedon NV Brut L.D. Whilst they decided to build the dream in the Macedon Ranges their other passion has always been Heathcote as an outstanding Shiraz growing region. In 1994 they, and co-owner Athol Guy (of ‘Seekers’ fame), planted the ‘Athol’s Paddock’ Vineyard to produce the now iconic ‘Heathcote Shiraz’. Since then Hanging Rock has produced 2 other Heathcote Shiraz’s to showcase the styles the region can produce. The Hanging Rock Winery selects premium grapes from areas of Victoria best suited to that particular variety, as a result we have a wide range of wines to suit most styles and tastes.
The weather was very warm, but the cooling breezes up on the hill where the winery sits were lovely. This winery is off the main road, but you really should seek it out for a very enjoyable winery visit. The cellar door was open, and we sampled many different varieties.. all for free, and enjoyed some great conversation with the lady that owns the winery. I came away with buying just one bottle of the Jim Jim which was such a nice drop, that I will be enjoying with a seafood dinner. We then ventured out to explore the Art In The Vines exhibition, which was thoroughly enjoyable... simple pleasures on a Sunday afternoon.
