What a lovely place to sit outside and share a bottle of wine or a few glasses of wine! We sampled the Sangiovese which was good but surprisingly we loved the Grapevine Red. This one would be a great summer red wine. We sat outside and listened to a single musician sing and play. You can choose the grassy yard, under cover patio or 3-sided tent. We wished the outside bar was open for reorders rather than go into the house. Granddaughter even enjoyed the gazebo and snacking on our picnic blanket.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised after discovering for our family visit to Dallas that Grapevine had so many wineries. After trying several on Main St. Umbra was the most impressive actual wine tasting room. There was a large group there but the staff took the time to explain where all the wine came from to my wife and I and felt very relaxed and enjoyed the lovely ambiance of the winery. Great selections. Everyone that came in were greeted warmly. Most of the wineries on Main St are more like a bar, which is fine if that's what you're looking for, but for the best wine tasting experience, we will return back to Umbra on our next Dallas visit.

Messina Hof Grapevine Winery is located in Historic Downtown Grapevine at The Wallis Hotel. The original Wallis Hotel was built in 1891 by Johnny Wallis for his sister, Susan. The Wallis Hotel often accommodated traveling salesmen and other agricultural business leaders. The Wallis family ran the hotel until 1926, and it was eventually torn down in the 1930s. A replica was built on Main Street, which is where Messina Hof Grapevine calls home, many original pieces are on display in the winery. Many have often stopped to take a picture with the, "Sidewalk Judge", who sits on the park bench outside the hotel and monitors everyone's comings and goings. A salute to Grapevine's old-timers who could determine if a stranger who had come to town was in trouble or down on his luck. This location is Messina Hof’s first urban winery and also features multiple tasting areas with 40 different wines, tastings & premium flights, wine on tap by the glass or growler, gourmet food items & accessories.
We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday with a PTT at Messina Hof Winery in Grapevine. I wasn't expecting much because I wasn't a fan of Texas wines--or so I thought. Patty was our wine educator, and she was fantastic! Generous pours, extremely educational, and enthusiastic about letting each guest try wines that were to their liking. We learned things about wine tasting at Messina Hof from Patty that we never--and we've been to a few wine tastings. Turns out, I wasn't a fan of Texas wine because I hadn't had Messina Hof wines. The Sweet Justice Grapevine exclusive was my favorite; so unique and versatile! Their port-based jam was out of this world. Patty let us do some "barrel-thieving" of the port wines at the end, and it was so much fun! She made me a Messina Hof fan for life. Also, the booking process was great. We had a ton of last-minute cancellations due to covid19 exposures, so our party of 13 shrank to a party of 5. Still, Andrea, Messina Hof's event sales manager, was so gracious in accommodating us. She was so patient and understanding, and I'm just thankful for how easy she made this booking process. In the end, we each ended up buying a bottle of wine and two of us enrolled in the wine cub. We're already planning a second PTT in November for the people who couldn't make it during this trip. We're also keeping our eyes out for Messina Hof's Houston location to open this winter!

We stopped in to take a break from walking, and stayed for more than an hour! My wife had a sampler that allows you to pick three wines and get a "sample", (about 1/3 of a full glass), of each. It was getting cold outside, and they had a Hot Mulled Spice Wine, so I tried it. It was amazing! Had a Artichoke Dip appetizer which was sooo cheesy and delicious. Service is friendly, and they all seem to be very versed in the wine selection. Enjoyed our visit immensely and will definitely be back!

Lovely place on grapevine Main Street. We got a table outside, the November evening was cool but comfortable. Great service from the waitresses and we enjoyed delicious warm artichoke hearts and a cheese plate for appetizers and lasagne for main. The Farina house Texas blend wine was fruity and delicious and good value for a bottle. Nice cozy and friendly atmosphere. Recommended.
