This lovely, relaxed winery is small and family-owned, and it shows. We got to meet the owner during our visit, and we got an interesting bit of history about the winery and the general region. They have both whites and reds (everything is delicious), and they have snacks to share to offset the alcohol in the wine. It's a gorgeous place to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. The staff are knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the wine and the winery in general.

I've visited the Silo many times. It's 2 minutes from downtown Sherman and let's to step back a moment as you enter the farm and its old barn to be surprised with a state-of-the-art tasting room and art gallery. A couple of times a year we go to meet the artists which is always a delight along with tasting some of their new wine parings. On a nice days, enjoying their outside tables and a pitcher of Sangria can really set the mood! Just a nice stop when your 90 minutes north of the city.

When family and friends get together there is a magical sense of camaraderie of family. Il Cantina Sociale di La Familglia is Our Society of Wine Producers & you are now a member of the family. Throughout your days of wine-making with us you will learn from second, third & fourth generation Italian-Americans the joys and traditions of wine making. From crushing and pressing to racking and bottling, you will be involved in each step resulting in your own barrel of Vino della Casa labeled, of course, with your name. During your time with us, in addition to working with the grapes, we invite you to experience the Italian way, as we know it. We will share with you our new family, the great meals, the lore, the tradition and the story telling that has made for such camaraderie and resulted in so many special times. You'll probably even pick up a few of our favorite phrases and gestures along the way. We invite you to stroll the gardens, play a game of bocce or horseshoes, or lend a hand in the kitchen preparing for the evening's feast!

I decided to go for a drive last weekend not planning on stopping anywhere but I saw a sign the vineyard was open and decided to stop just to see it. There were clear signs in the parking lot asking you stay in your car and before I was done reading the sign two very friendly people in masks and gloves came out to greet me. They gave me great info on the vineyard and wine from 6 feet away. I told them I don't drink and don't need a gift for anyone right now but the girl Kim stayed talking to me while the boy went to help another car that pulled up. Kim then told me about the CT chocolate they sell as well as all the local cheeses and crackers. She was very patient and even repeated the options when I couldn't decide. She helped me with cracker selection too. So I left a vineyard VERY happy with CT cheeses. Sorry I can't mention the wine but while I was there one other car bought a few bottles and another car bought a case. Thanks SMV.

I love this winery and I take all my friends here who are visiting the area! They have implemented new policies during COVID such as spaced out tables, wine flights, and one group inside the tasting room at a time. Their wine slushies are delicious but I wish they came in a bigger cup! The Wine Dog white is a must-try!

As wineries go this was a beautiful spot. We did the tour and the tasting which was fun and informative. After the tour we went to the tasting bar where you can try samples of other liqueurs that they produce. We went all through the shop and brought some of our favorites home! Marion was mine! We also picked up some gifts as well. It was a fun day in a beautiful spot. Parking is ample, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful!

Jones Family Farms consists of 3 farm locations in Shelton that are in close proximity, but with unique street addresses as you plan your visits. * Homestead Farm - 606 Walnut Tree Hill Road * Pumpkin Seed Hill Farm - 120 Beardsley Road * Valley Farm - 555 Walnut Tree Hill Road History Established in 1850. Jones Family Farms, nestled in the White Hills of Shelton, with its 19th century dairy barn and homestead farmhouse, impresses the visitor as a peaceful and relaxed living environment. The beautiful countryside with its orderly rows of Christmas trees, neat stonewalls, and well-maintained fields are the result of efforts by seven generations of Jones family farmers. The farmers of the 400-acre working farm invite families to visit and harvest seasonal crops. Presently under cultivation are 200 acres of Christmas trees, 15 acres of strawberries, 15 acres of blueberries, and 25 acres of pumpkins, gourds and squash. The Jones farmers harvest these crops from three different farm locations known as the Homestead Farm, the Valley Farm, and Pumpkinseed Hill. The farm also manages 50 acres of hay land and 50 acres of woodlots. Over five acres of grapes are in production for the farm's winery.
We came here to have a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery, and were pleased at the overall experience. They have a good selection of wines (the pinot gris and the strawberry serenade were both excellent), as well as several cheeses, meats, and crackers to offset the alcohol. Most of the seating is outside, which is good for physical distancing. I was impressed at how well they also took safety precautions: we're required to make a reservation beforehand (you only get the table for an hour and a half), and they mark off which path to take so there isn't any crowding. You need to pay $20 for the reservation, but that is taken off your final bill. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. There are also tractors and other farm tools here as part of the vibe, and when they're in season, they also have pumpkins, strawberries and blueberries, and Christmas trees.

So this vineyard is a little diamond in the rough, and not sure you would find it if you didn't know what you were looking for to get there. Very cozy though, the location tucked back into a wooded area and viola, a vineyard! Super cute area, great wine and very friendly staff. Plenty of seating and you can bring your own appetizers. Beautiful vineyard and perfect for a sunny afternoon.
