The historical center of Baku reveals its tumultuous past, from its roots as a Persian capital, through its oil boom to its Soviet occupation. The old city is a maze of alleys, mosques, historic buildings and remnants of fortification, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, now listed among UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Much more than a historic site, the city hosts vibrant arts and cultural activities, as well as a bustling modern business sector.

Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia Tour 12 days Discover three countries Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan- in just one tour. The soaring Caucasus Mountains separate Europe from Asia, and the South Caucasus countries are on that borderline. Inhabitants of Azerbaijan burned crude oil in their lamps before anyone knew what it was. Beautiful, rocky Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as its official religion. And Georgia, acclaimed for its fabulous food and drink, claims to be the first area to cultivate the wine grape. These countries are distinguished by their distinct histories, traditions, cultures and natural surroundings

Firstly credit where it’s due - value for money on our tour of the Southern Caucuses was pretty good as it was half board. The downside of that was that we never got to choose any of our own food and, although there was a variety of dishes served, it’s not the same as having a free choice. Secondly, the tour started each morning right after breakfast, went on all day and finished by going straight to dinner in the evening. This meant no free time at all which isn’t good when you’re visiting foreign countries. Finally, all of our tour group wanted to visit a bazaar one day, rather than yet another church. However, we were told that we weren’t allowed to. We didn’t appreciate being treated like children since all the group were between late 30s and late 70s.

What a fantastic day! It started with a great ride in a clean, comfortable van out of the city with excellent conversation and information from Nasimi. We first stopped by the vineyard, where not only did we walk through the vineyards and try the different grapes, but we also watched harvest picking and met some of the locals working. From there, we went to the plant, where we were able to try all the wines and spirits, even at different stages of fermentation. The wines were delicious, with many unexpected varieties (not just pomegranate), and the spirits were also super tasty. All of this, followed by a wonderful lunch at an overlook before a much-need nap on the way home :) I have travelled quite a bit and have done many wine tours, and this was honestly one of my favorites. The hospitality can't be beat, and there really is so much flexibility to make the tour what you want. We will absolutely arrange more trips of other vineyards in the near future. FYI for COVID - masks were worn and hand sanitizer was always available, as well as bathrooms at each stop to wash your hands.

Imagine pure, crystal-clear water cascading down from the great Caucasus Mountains, winding its way through the lavish land in the foothills of the valley and suffusing the sun-bathed vines. Excellent remote walking tour of the old city of Tbilisi with Bacho via internet. The technology worked well and Bacho has perfect English. Bacho is a friendly and very well informed guide. It was wonderful to get a taste of this beautiful and interesting looking city in the only way possible in current circumstances. Georgia is now very high on my list of countries to visit when circumstances allow and I will not hesitate to contact Bacho and Georgian holidays to help plan my trip. Highly recommended. Many thanks. Mike Davey England
During this tour you will visit one of the most unique villages in the world- Lahic village. Till 1982 there was almost no road to Lahic. That’s why Lahic almost stayed unbroken and unchanged for many hundred years There is no exact data of the origin of the Lagich settlement and the chronicle of this place is based on the legend. According to one of them, Persian shah Kai Khosrow killed a respectable ruler of one of the cities in the struggle for power. It caused indignation of masses. In order to save own life, he fled the country. The shah found shelter in the mountains not far from current place of Lagich where he spent the rest of his life. The village was formed by his servants and their families from the tribe lagich, who settled near the shelter of their master. Gradually, the settlement expanded and turned into artisans’ center.

This is a long overdue review. We went last year and Amir was very helpful. He picked us up and brought us to the hotel and gave us tips on where to go in Baku. The guide/driver he assigned to us, Vlad, was also great and knowledgeable about the places we went to. It was a long drive to Khinaliq, but in the end, it was worth it. We had lunch at one of the local's houses, very good food and authentic experience.
