I recommend one of the small boat tours to see it from all angles AND get up close. The small boat tours are cheaper and quicker if you want to do some hiking afterwards.

Latefossen is a monster of a water cascade, and it can be viewed up close from the parking area adjacent to the highway. I'm sure that you've seen or heard about spectacular waterfalls, but there is nothing like being "right there". Wikipedia has a nice explanatory write up. An additional treat can be found in Roledal, about 15 miles east of Latefossen: an original stave church that has been "remodeled" on the out side, but has its original inside features reemain intact - awseome.

2 kms from Norheimsund direction Bergen, just by route 7. One of the best known and photographed waterfalls of the country, where you can walk under and behind the waterfall. Stone monument astrophysicist Svein Rosseland. Represented Norway on Expo 2000.
On our way to Hardangerfjord, we paid a visit to Steinsdalsfossen and it was a great decision. View of the valley in front of the waterfall from the top is amazing, got a good view of the waterfall from behind, very many beautiful views all around the place.

It's either you stop right at the top, with a bird's eye view of the waterfall, Geo coordinates as : 60.425468, 7.246463 OR like us, we choose a short hike ( 1.3km x2 ) to the base of the waterfall. You can park at 60.425203, 7.231709. Both sides of the road are widen to allow cars to park to hike to Vøringsfossen. The initial 200m is path road, after which , there are many boulders and bid rocks to overcome. But not a problem at all as just do it at your own pace and enjoy the hike. It's beautiful with a lovely weather to top it all. You can do it in 2 hours. We took about 3 hours as we had our picnic and rest at the waterfall too!

Manafossen is Rogaland's biggest waterfall and Norway's ninth tallest free fall waterfall. From the parking area you proceed on foot along the southeast bank of the river. The path up to Manafossen is steep and rugged in places. The steepest spots have steps and chains that you can hold on to as you climb. From the path you have a fine view over Manafossen, which has a free fall of 92 metres. The waterfall is protected and is one of Rogaland's biggest tourist attractions. You can continue your trip into Mandal and visit Man farm. This was the first farm that was cleared in Fidjadalen valley - probably already in the early Middle Ages. On the lush grassy slopes around the main building there are numerous remnants of the mountain farm that was in use until 1915. Today the restored farmhouse is the only remaining original building. A new building sleeps 34 persons. In the basement you'll find an exhibition featuring the mountain farm's history, the conservation area Frafjordheiene and the work of the Jaeren Recreational Council. The basement also serves as a heated shelter, where you're welcome to warm up while you eat your lunch when visiting Man farm. Follow the signs from the turnoff at algard, in the direction of Byrkjedal. Parking.
