Puntarenas (Spanish pronunciation: [puntaˈɾenas]) is a province of Costa Rica. It is located in the western part of the country, covering most of Costa Rica's Pacific Ocean coast, and it is the largest province in Costa Rica. Clockwise from the northwest it borders on the provinces Guanacaste, Alajuela, San José and Limón, and the neighbouring country of Panama.

These two brothers were wonderful guides and are amazing stewards of the land. We saw so much! So glad we went. Prepare with bug spray and a good head lamp or flash light. At the end Humberto's family provided warm hospitality and we heard Enrique's stories. Don't use a tour company. This is the authentic CR experience!

We are an excellent option for rural tourism, we offer accommodation in rustic rooms with balcony, private bathroom and hot water, guided hiking trails, gazebos, suspension bridges, cable ferry, typical food prepared firewood Costa Rica, natural pools, waterfalls forests, rappelling tour and transportation. Excellent for couple, family or friends, would be a pleasure to attend.
We visited from manuel antonio. It was a long drive (1hr 10min) but well worth it for the waterfall views, hanging bridges and most of all swimming. Oh and a wonderful lunch. Give yourself 2hrs before lunch if you like to swim at the two falls, otherwise you can easily hike the trails in an hour. We did self guided because we were here to swim not view wildlife. The trails are well marked and short so no need for a guide unless you looking for wildlife. Hanging bridges are fantastic, really high up, great view falls, solidly engineered. The drive here goes through a couple villages so it is interesting but half the drive is on some very rough pot holes roads. The final 6km or so is dirt but very smooth, I was thinking they must frequently maintain it. Didn't feel 4x4 is necessary to this place. Enjoy your experience.

The Montezuma falls are gorgeous, and easy to reach. A short hike along a pretty good path takes you back to the oasis. The water is deliciously cool and refreshing, especially on a hot day. Definitely worth the trek if you're in Montezuma. I recommend going in the morning - 9-10am, before it gets too hot and filled with people.

Pura Vida Gardens and Waterfalls is unique in Costa Rica. It is truly a "Visual Masterpiece". The gardens begin with the natural beauty of Costa Rica and four waterfalls in the property with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. To this millions of plants, flowers and orchids from all over the world have been added. Manicured walkways meander long a river and at the crest of the mountain which make the entire 50 acre gardens accessible to all. Have lunch in our restaurant and browse the gift shop that offers authentic Costa Rica gifts.
Took a bus tour to this out-of-the-way garden on a hilltop. Beautiful gardens with a view of the ocean & a waterfall. Owner is open & friendly. Driving in a bus is difficult due to winding Mt road. Worth it, however!

20$ per person but worth it! Pretty decent hike! Definitely need good shoes and take the walking sticks they offer. I wouldn’t take my young kids but my teens could do it! It’s totally worth the view and up close view of the waterfall. Bring water and a snack to take a break before you head back up. It was pretty shaded and not to hot but we we started around 8 am and finished up around 11.

Short easy hike from parking lot to beautiful secluded waterfall. Although I understand it can get crowded it wasn’t the morning we went. Got to watch people sliding down waterfall, but it is the “more adventurous “. They did look to be having great fun! Water cool and refreshing. Worth finding and the price of admission.

From the beautiful new Reception building, descend a sometimes steep trail mostly through primary wet mountain forest to the bottom of a forested canyon hosting a beautiful spring-fed stream. The trail continues upstream following the rushing water, crossing three bridges, until finally the canyon narrows to reveal the beautiful waterfall.
This little enterprise is a hidden jewel in what's called "the zone" of Monteverde central. Located down a hidden driveway....look for the "Catarate" (waterfall) sign on the road. If you get to Tramontis restaurant or the local Whole Foods, you've gone a little too far. Back up and take the first left on the way down. Access is convenient, entry fees are minimal, compared to other nearby private reserves and the national park, The hike encapsulates any mountain hiking you could do in this area. It's a steep amble down a well maintained and marked path to this tiny valley. Easy and exciting for able hikers, not suited for those who are concerned with steps and rugged areas. This peaceful area is a great destination for a picnic lunch, photo ops, meditation, sketching...or simply communing with the "lungs of the earth". The return hike is short & challenging. Take your time and really NOTICE the diversity of the flora, listen to the sounds of the rainforest, notice the misty atmosphere or how the sunlight dances through the upper reaches of the cloud forest.
