Trafalgar Falls

Two spectacular waterfalls, Mother and Father, which you can climb around and have their rainbow encircle you.

Reviewed By liverdream - London, United Kingdom

We found the tours to Trafalgar falls a bit expensive and as we didn't have cars, we managed to get a public bus up to Trafalgar village (departs from Roseau in front of the Labour house every day btw 7-19) The fare is 5EC/person. From there it's an easy walk up with a little elevation to the falls. They only take cash for entrance ticket. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Try to visit on non-cruise day as otherwise it will be jammed with tour buses from the cruise.

Emerald Pool Nature Trail

Waters from the 50-foot Emerald Falls plunge into this swirling, fern-filled basin, giving hikers a cool respite after a leisurely hike to this sight.

We used Shoretrips on a recent Royal Caribbean Cruise. The tour was called: TRAFALGAR FALLS AND EMERALD POOL. We had a group of 14 so we got a private shuttle with a driver named Clem. He was outstanding!! I am not sure of the actual tour company, but if you ever to Dominica, try to look this up and Shoretrips and ask for Clem. Dominica is a very very beautiful country.

Sari-Sari Waterfall

A short hike up the White River, a spectacular waterfall with a swimmable pool at its base.

Reviewed By B3548CBdeniseg

We were going hiking through the rain forest so we could go swimming under a waterfall, Sari Sari falls. O...........M..........G!!! The description said "extreme" but the ages were 6-65. I'm thinking how extreme could it be if a 6 and 65 year old can do it. After all, we are 50 and 51. Let me tell you, IT WAS EXTREME!!! We were REAL rock climbing. We were climbing in mud, sand and rocks. We were using roots as hand holds and when there were no roots, we used earth. I fell no less than 10 times and Eric fell twice. Others were also falling and one lady had to stop and wait for us to get back. It's a good thing I'm not afraid to get dirty because I got muddy. We climbed up the mountain, down the mountain and crossed the rushing and very rocky river about 8 or 10 times. The end result......nearly brought tears to my eyes. It was SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL that it made all those falls on my fat butt worth it. Once you got to the falls, you had the option of climbing even more rocks to get to the pool at the bottom of the falls to go swimming. This girl was NOT going to pass that up. Eric opted to sit it out and I went. I am so glad I did. It was AWESOME to do that. On our way back out we took the same path as we took in. Along the way we stopped right there along the river to have some indigenous soup. There was a guy that was cooking it while we were hiking so it was ready when we got back. I don't know what all I ate but it was good. Might I add, our tour guide did the whole excursion BAREFOOT!!! He was running and jumping all over those rocks. He had ninja like skill. Not to mention, he was over 50, so he said. We walked about 1 mile into the rain forest. It seemed like 20. In the end, it was very much worth it to me. I got to check something off my list. Swimming under a waterfall.

Victoria Falls

Reviewed By activecaribbeantravl - Toronto, Canada

Near the town of Delices, we followed the signs from the main road that led us down a dangerously steep narrow pathway carved into the side of a ridge. Thankfully it’s a short drive down to the local family ‘Rastarant’ (yes, a Rasta Restaurant), where one of the local Rasta guides came out to greet us. It was an enjoyable, but relatively short hike from the rastarant to the White River. The setting, with the eerily grey-blue mineral-rich water below us, was stunningly beautiful. Following our guide, we waded into and crossed the river to join another trail on the other side. After a short hike, we were back into the water just upstream from where we crossed. From here on, we spent most of the time walking in the river, against the current. It was fairly slow going, picking our way slowly across the rocks. After a while, we knew we were getting close, as we could hear the roar of the waterfall getting closer and closer. Eventually, we turned a corner in the river and we could see the breathtaking Victoria waterfalls and the large blue-grey pool that it poured into. Being at the bottom of the spectacular 165 feet (50m) tall waterfalls was a truly humbling experience. The scene was like something out of a movie as we just stood in awe – You could just feel the power… Everything, from rocks to trees and shrubs, within hundreds of feet of the surrounding area was soaked from the falls’ mist. It is safe to say that our Victoria Falls hike made memories that will last a lifetime. The hike in terms of distance was fairly short, however there was so much to ‘take in’ – Travelling upstream in a wild rocky river and standing in the pool of this mighty waterfalls – Time was ‘standing still’. An epic tropical nature experience for sure!

The waterfall is nice, the road to get to the waterfall needs improvements, only a 4wheel drive vehicle can access the area due to the current road conditions. The track to the falls are visible, however improvement is needed also the falls area needs to be cleared. There are stones with fencing in the falls landing which seems dangerous to take a swim. I would not go back there in a hurry.

After a 6.8 km hike of section 13 of the Waitukubuli Trail, this was the perfect place to rest our weary bones. Definitely find a local guide to bring you as it is off the beaten path (try Tom at Wanderlust Caribben). After a short hike down to the river cross a stream to find the pool. The water is great, the waterfall is strong and the jump is breathtaking! Make sure you partake in it all.

Salton Waterfalls

Reviewed By OSUcolumbusOH - Columbus, United States

If you are in the area the Salton falls, they are worth a visit. There was a small fee (20 EC) to enter which was collected by some locals at the entrance. After reading other reviews we parked at the top and walked down the steep road. The area is amazingly beautiful so it was worth the walk. Once you are at the bottom of the road the path becomes pretty rugged but it is easy to follow. At the bottom of the path the trail gets a lot narrower and splits - the upper trail takes you to the upper falls which has a nice plunge pool for swimming. The lower trail takes you down to the lower falls. Once you reach the lower falls there is a new wooden deck, which makes viewing the falls really easy. It has been raining quite a lot over the last few days, so we were lucky because there were many different waterfalls cascading over the rocks. It is an amazing place to visit and way less visited than the nearby emerald pool (we saw no one else the entire visit).

This waterfall was stunning, and on our tour was called the Habiscus Waterfall (I think!). I went into the water at the base of the waterfall and although it was a bit refreshing shall we say, it was absolutely stunning. It was a bit hit and miss with the rock below foot though, as of course it’s a natural setting so there are loose, uneven and sloppy rock everywhere! There’s a viewing point as well for those with limited mobility or for those who would rather not climb down the 70ish steps to reach it.
