Nothing marks the beginning of the summer season in Vancouver like the opening of its Kitsilano Pool. This year, of course, it is different. Perched between land & ocean, it is there for all to see, giving a flavor to the neighborhood with its opening, exciting swimmers & non-swimmers alike, as well as welcomed by eateries close by, such as the wonderful Kibune Sushi, The Boathouse,The Local & Nook, which see a nice uptick in business with its opening each May on Victoria Day long-weekend. This year with the pandemic its long-awaited opening will be July 13. Things will be quite different this year, of course. For one, swimmers will have to arrive “swim-ready”, as the change rooms with its showers, will not be open but the washrooms will still be available. The pool is only accepting non-contact payment so no cash or passes. To ensure safety & social distancing, admission for lap swimmers will be on a 45 min basis & 90 min for others. Reservations can be done online or on a drop-in basis. Lanes have also been made larger. So a Brave New World at this venerable Kitsilano institution, but given its spectacular location & its glorious long lengths one can swim alongside the ocean, not much can spoil the experience of visiting this magnificent pool. I have been swimming at Kits pool since 1988, shortly after arriving here as an immigrant. My then teenage & champion swimmer son joined me there as a regular lap swimmer until we moved to UBC to do our respective degrees at the opposite ends of the titular spectrum, swimming there until we returned to Kits. My two grandchildren love to swim at the pool when they come for visits, so we are now three generations in. I have also taken visiting friends to swim at Kits & all have been impressed. An enthusiastic & committed life/long swimmer, I have swum around the world in many great places but the Kits pool remains top of the list. Posted by S Fuller

We stayed 7hrs in rain Perfect Short line ups, hot tubs, kids did a massive amount of stairs. Brought our own snacks but couldn’t resist their food too ( yes expensive, but you could always get a hand stamp, leave and eat and come back in later) Lockers to rent are small, staff friendly and helpful

We went here to see Kimi’s Kreations first murals. They are still there! Ended up having the most fun!! My son and his BF each got $20 and they were off!! They played soccer, baseball, air hockey, target shooting..... watch out for the skunk, she’ll get you!! We all went on the bumper cars! There was old school pin ball for those a tad older and all the new cool ones for the kiddo’s! They did laser mazes and finished it off with a go cart race! It was clean! Some games are only .30 cents! Something for everyone! Great staff! So nice to see somewhere where kids can hang out.... Love it!! So did the boys! We went 3 times! I’m a happy Mom!

The Great Escape is an indoor family entertainment center and theme park for all ages. Book birthday parties, team windups, corporate team building, private parties, corporate Christmas parties, fundraising venue or just drop in and play.
So sad The Great Escape closed down! (January 2020) My family LOVED playing at The Great Escape. We thought it was by far the best indoor playground in the lower mainland - perfect for rainy days, which we have a lot. The playground itself was very large, safe and had a lot of variety for kids at different stages, At the bottom they had a toddler-only play area which was great when my kids were learning to walk. As my kids grew older they, they ventured into the main indoor playground. It was big enough for us parents to follow along and play too. We would all race down the waterfall slide or take turns going down the lava slide which was our absolute favorite. The interactive floor games were cool too. We also enjoyed the virtual arcade ride and arcade games. Wish we would have checked out the laser tag and miniature golf before they closed... I bet they were awesome too. Also, for a kid's indoor play area they kept it very, very clean. Thanks for the memories!!!

This theme park is still one of the coolest places to come to during the summer especially during the PNE. The Beast ride is so fun and probably the most intense ride at park! Definitely worth coming once.

Family oriented waterpark; tube the Rapids River Ride or ride the 400 feet of darkness in the Black Hole or just relax in the giant hot tub. No stairs, concession available or bring your own picnic and spend the day.
We had a blast with our kids ages 3 and 6. The staff were doing a good job at physical distancing. Lots of space to spread out and tents to find some shade.
