10 Walking Tours in Quebec City That You Shouldn't Miss

October 11, 2021 Harland Bartelt

Quebec City may be the only fortified city north of Mexico, but it welcomes visitors with open arms. Explore the Citadel, where you might catch Canadian troops staging a military ceremony. As for food, you could splurge on afternoon tea at the Chateau Frontenac, or do as the locals do and snack on poutine—french fries with gravy and cheese curds.

A little bit late to review but better late than never. My wife and I took this historical food tour of Quebec City in February 2020, and we are really glad we did. We were the only people on the tour so received the full attention of our host. I left the tour having learned so much more about the history of Quebec City, something I very much appreciated. We visited five establishments that took in appetizers, main courses ... note the plural! ... and dessert. All the courses were really very good. This is a great experience but certainly not like sitting down to eat a meal. Definitely recommended though.

The guide was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. There were a lot of video recordings which make you feel as if you are there. The guide was very informative about history and traditions. I have done a few virtual tours, but this is by far the best!

We took a private tour of Montreal with our guide Lola over 4 hours long. We had the opportunity to tour the old part, the banking area, the port and the Olympic stadium area. We were in places not usual for tourists, we learned about the daily life of the people of Montreal, their way of life, virtues and problems of life in Montreal. The private tour is a worthwhile experience, and if Lola is your guide, even better. Thanks to Voyalific for meeting all our expectations.

There really is no better way to get to know a city than to do a food tour! We chose this tour as it was recommended by a friend and we were so pleased we did. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable (Ben) and the timings worked perfectly. We had the best mac and cheese ever, paired with local wine which was the standout stop for us! It was a little chilly being December, but the time between stops was very manageable. Great tour and would do it again

I always knew that there was another city in the province of Quebec other the Montreal, but I had never traveled to Quebec City until this September. It was worth the trip in no small part because of Yves Tardif. I could have seen its historic architecture and sampled the delightful food without his assistance, but Yves provided the narrative. He told us of the story of the founding of Quebec City and of its key role as the initial capital of the province of Quebec. He provided us with not only the political and military history of the city, but also the cultural development of the city, especially within the last fifty years. I learned about the role of the various organizations within the Catholic Church in the development of Quebec City and its continuing role in its daily life. He has a delightful sense of humor, and chats without lecturing. He made the city come alive!
