Tairua is at the gateway to the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula. A perfect place to stop and find out all you need to know about Tairua and our surrounding areas. We can tell you everything you need to know about Tairua, Hahei, Cathedral Cove, Hot Water beach, tour options, eating places, local tramps / walkways, accommodation and all the other wonderful things we have to offer. At Tairua Information Centre we pride ourselves in excellent service. We go above and beyond to help with every inquiry. What we dont know, we do our very best to find out for our visitors. We have a lovely range of gifts and souvenirs, including NZ made products. - Intercity, Nakedbus and 'Go kiwi transport' agents. - New Zealand Courier agent.

Not all info centres in New Zealand are as good as the one in Tairua. It has a very good selection of souvenirs of all types and I would recommend stopping here if you need a souvenir for yourself or something to take back home for others.

The wife and I had strolled into town to check out the markets. We have been to the I-Site several times now to check out a few things so decided to pop in on our way past. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Most activities in or around Whitianga and the Coromandel Peninsula can be booked from here including transport in and out. There are a range of souvenirs available in the shop too as well as some informative narration. Situated in Albert Street which is the Main Street too.

Kauaeranga Visitor Centre

This suprised me. I wasn't expecting much, but it really is a superb learning center. There's a very short hike to see some mining dam remants that is well worth the short walk from the visitors center. From there you can take off to the Pinnacles or take your choice of several other tramps in the immedicate area.

Very helpful, willing ladies as staff. Had some surplus garden products to give away too. Good handy place to sit outside with laptop for internet connection. Lots of varying priced gifts on sale. Some rather expensive but nice.

We visited the Waihi Visitor Information Centre as part of the Waihi Gold Mine tour. The ladies were very helpful. Then days later helped our daughter who was stuck waiting for a bus to Thames.
