10 Traveler Resources in Toronto That You Shouldn't Miss

December 24, 2021 Leonardo Torrence

We've heard Toronto described as "New York City run by the Swiss," and it's true—you can find world-class theater, shopping and restaurants here, but the sidewalks are clean and the people are friendly. The best place to start is literally at the top—the CN Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Western Hemisphere.

This library might be one of the best in the Toronto Public Library system. It holds awesome events, including the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF), is the location of the Arthur Conan Doyle special collections (a must see for Sherlock Holmes fans), has hard working staff, and is visually stunning. Plus several film shoots and weddings have happened here!

The Ismaili Centre

The building is very beautiful and has peaceful ambience and surroundings. It was a worth it visit and was very educational with the tour guide explaining in detail the history of Islam and especially the Ismailis (followers of the hereditary Imam, decedent from Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan), The inner court and prayer house is very serene and has a beautiful vista of Toronto from the roof top. While there, visited the Aga Khan Museum, another worth it visit. Smooth check in at front reception desk and the area well planned with very friendly staff. The permanent exhibition downstairs is amazing and gives you an insight into Medieval history of Islam. Very well preserved artifacts to show the glory of that time period. I was lucky to see Caravans of Gold, Fragments in Time exhibition, which opened my eyes to the fact, that Africa was not the DARK Continent the Europeans had been calling it during the medieval times and later.

This was the first place I visited as soon as I landed in Toronto and I'm extremely grateful I made this decision. There I met a staff worker called who went out of her way to be helpful. She had plenty of great advice on what to see, how to get there and what were the best times to go there. She gave me great advice about what to visit in Niagara Falls and how to get the best out of that visit and after visiting I can confirm she was right. She also helpfully explained the best places to visit for a short time in Toronto and the best and quickest way to get there. Overall I would highly recommend that people check this place out as soon as you visit Toronto to be able to plan your trip as best as you can. Also very centrally located at the Union station so will definitely visit here again the next time I'm in Toronto!

Metro Toronto Convention Centre

This large convention center is easily accessible from Union Station and is close to the Rogers Center. There are several levels to the convention hall and all are accessible. The facility is well maintained and is clean and modern. Fan Expo is held here each year along with things like the One of a Kind Craft Fair. Many conventions are held here. If you are a tourist in town just wander in to see the facility - it is just west of Union Station on Front Street.
