Glasgow Women’s Library (GWL) is the only Accredited Museum in the UK dedicated to women’s lives, histories and achievements, with a lending library, archive collections and innovative programme of public events and learning opportunities. The organisation has grown from a small grassroots project into the main hub for information by, for and about women in Scotland and it is visited and enjoyed by people from around the world and around the corner. Based in an awarding-winning building in Glasgow's East End, GWL is open to all and has a presence across Scotland through their National programme of events and activities. Glasgow Women's Library was a finalist for Art Fund Museum of the Year 2018. In the spring and summer months, GWL run their popular Women's Heritage Walks around Glasgow.

We went on a guided tour of the library which included a behind the scenes treat. This is a regular event. The Mitchell is an incredible library which houses many original manuscripts and letters as well as an immense collection of historical and contemporary books. There is a genealogy section, music pods for practising complete with pianos, computers available for use, quiet study areas, maps, newspaper archives, and so much more. We were amazed to be told that we could become members even though we didn't live in the Glasgow area. So we did just that and are looking forward to going back very soon.

The Lighthouse, Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture, is a visitor centre, exhibition space and events venue situated in the heart of Glasgow, just off the Style Mile. The Lighthouse acts as a beacon for the creative industries in Scotland and promotes design and architecture through a vibrant programme of exhibitions and events. Formerly housing The Glasgow Herald, The Lighthouse was the first public commission completed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and is the perfect place to begin a Mackintosh tour of Glasgow. The Mackintosh Interpretation Centre on Level Three is home to a permanent Mackintosh exhibition where visitors can learn more about his life and work. Climb the Mackintosh Tower or take the lift to the Viewing Platform for stunning views across the city, indulge yourself in the latest designer products at The Lighthouse Shop, or simply relax in the Doocot, our cafe/bar.

With its prime location in the airport’s departures area, the Lomond Lounge at Glasgow airport offers fantastic views of the airfield. This luxurious new facility provides a premium level of service and comfort to travellers passing through Glasgow Airport. The lounge features a mix of table service for a la carte dining and more relaxed seating areas where passengers can unwind.
We visited the lounge before our flight to Tenerife, it was 5.30am and the lounge was quiet, in fact it was only ourselves in. The woman that served us was so attentive, within 5 minutes of sitting down I had a cocktail in front of me (don’t judge, we were off on holiday). We both had the eggs benedict that was delicious and well presented. I have seen people complain about the price but for the service, food and drink quality and being away from the madness of downstairs in the airport I would have paid double. Already booked to come back before our next holiday.
