Simone who helped us, a British couple and a French friend insisted on speaking English, which she did very fluently. We were recommended to the Tourist Office by our hosts in Solbach and we were not disappointed. After about 90 minutes, we left with a firm plan on how to get the best out of our day in Strasbourg. "Get up very early, park in the Park and Ride, take the tram and be in the cathedral by 9am sharp. With suggested Batorama trip, The Oeuvre Notre-Dame Museum, The Vauban Dam, Petite France and St Thomas's church all highlighted in pen by Simone we knew what might be possible. Her suggestions for the immediate Schirmeck area included the excellent museum Memorial Alsace Moselle and the harrowing but essential visit to the Struthof WW2 camp - indescribable story of those who resisted and were simply worked to death. It was a death camp. Please visit this as we British and our French friend had never heard of this horror. It leaves you with a feeling that we must fight for the constant unity of Europe. Very belatedly, thank you so very much Simone. You get 6 stars from all of us!
