Dover (/ˈdoʊvər/) is a town and major ferry port in the home county of Kent, in South East England. It faces France across the Strait of Dover, the narrowest part of the English Channel, and lies south-east of Canterbury and east of Maidstone. The town is the administrative centre of the Dover District and home of the Dover Calais ferry through the Port of Dover. The surrounding chalk cliffs are known as the White Cliffs of Dover.

I have visited Dover Castle and cliffs with my colleagues and Gray was an excellent guide and shown his professionalism since the first moment we met. We did not notice 2 hours road trip as Gary was sharing with us interesting histories, both personals and locals. He knows the best spots to visit and to take pictures, mostly of them are breath-taking. He also suggested a local restaurant to visit and we had a very tasty lunch. We had a lovely morning surrounded with nature and after a massive lunch, visiting the castle it was the best way to finish our tour. Gray was very knowledgeable and once again his interesting histories had kept us excited all time. You shouldn’t miss the opportunity to meet Gary because rather than having a tour seems that you are travelling with a friend.

We were scheduled on a transatlantic cruise from Dover to New York in September and were arriving in Dover by train from London. We contacted Karen at Whitfield Cars in Dover about doing a 3-hour tour of the area prior to boarding our ship. Karen provided reasonable rates, was very helpful, answered all my questions and we arranged for Mick to pick the 4 of us up at the train station. The tour was exceptional and very informative at which point we were dropped off directly in front of the main door to board the ship. Mick was born in the Dover area and is extremely personable, providing a tour of primary areas with a strong knowledge of the history and key historical sites. I would highly recommend Whitfield Cars for their professionalism, booking process and highly enjoyable and informative tour. It was such a great start to our transatlantic journey!

After being forced to leave our site in Spain by the police and asked to return home by the Consolate in Spain our option was a 2000 mile trip via France in an American RV that returns 6mpg (not a cheap option). I managed to speak with DFDS on two occasions and they were helpful with moving our return ferry forward. DFDS were great after being amandoned by Brittany Ferries in Spain when all crossing were cancelled at short notice (even the French ones). Hours spent trying to contact them left us with the channel crossing our only option. Refreshing was that we got straight through to DFDS and they were very help. I life saver in our opinion, thank you.

First time that we have used DFDS but certainely not the last. The boat was clean, modern, nicely decorated. The staff were lined up to welcome us on board. Food was fine and good value : full English breakfast for less than continental breakfast in Calais. Arrived on time and quickly debarked off the boat. Competitive prices compared to other ferry crossings.

Go on a little adventure with our Day Trip To France and drive off the ferry at Calais to enjoy a whole day away with your family and friends to explore the true beauty of France. Calais and the Hauts-de-France region of northern France are just a 90 minute ferry journey from Dover which means that you can be enjoying your day trip in no time at all, and even though it is often just thought of as the gateway to France this area has a lot to offer its day trip guests.
We have just returned from our continental holiday outbound on The Pride of Kent and inbound on The Spirit of France. Both were excellent crossings, loading and unloading went without a hitch and on schedule. As the boats were very busy, being the beginning of the school holidays we headed for The Brasserie Restaurant to avoid any queues and delays. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We were shown to a table by the window so we could enjoy the view. A window table is always good even if all you can see is water, it makes you feel relaxed and in holiday mode. The food was excellent, well presented and very tasty, the service efficient but not hurried. It is only a 1½ hour journey but still had time to visit the shop and buy gifts etc. The staff work very hard, are always pleasant and it is always a pleasure to go with P&O.
