Skyway Monte Bianco

Skyway Monte Bianco is much more than a cableway to reach 3,466 meters. It’s an idea: drawing man closer to the mountain and sky, broadening our horizons, overcoming boundaries. Beautiful landscapes to explore and the sky to meet.

Reviewed By Aandi1955 - Gdansk, Poland

During a very hot summer 2018 when everyday temperatures reached almost 35 degrees Celsius we were searching for some refreshment so we decided to make a trip into mountains with a cable car “Skyway Monte Bianco”. With one ticket costing almost 50 Euros (both ways) it was not a cheap attraction, but it was definitely worth this money. We were lucky with the weather what allowed us to enjoy splendid mountain panoramas. Most of the time the top of the Mont Blanc was hidden in the clouds but there were many other beautiful views we could admire from the open panorama deck or from the restaurant in the covered gallery one level below. The terrain around the upper station was covered with snow and the outside temperature at that height was below 0 Centigrade what together made right conditions for getting some refreshment during that hot summer. Of course we were equipped with warm jackets but we were happy to have a cup of coffee sitting inside the upper station and watching the mountains around through glass windows. At the lower mid-station it was much warmer therefore we spent much time walking outside.

The cable Car linking the city of Trapani to the medieval village of Erice Capital through their respective terminals, along a 3099-meters slant height, on the same path as the old cable Car that was operated between the 1950s and the 1970s. The plant is equipped with night lighting to be operated in the dark as well as with special cabins for people with disabilities and for bikes. Tour View with no stop boarding, 42 cabins for 8 people each and 12 minutes drive. Two Automatic Parking Areas with cameras at the exclusive service for the users of the cable car FOR ONLY € 1,50 FOR FIRST THREE HOURS. ATTENTION TO THE UNAUTHORIZED PARKING MEN ASK UNTIL € 5/€ 10 FOR CAR.

The Funiculare provided us with an excellent way to visit Erice from Trapani w/out having the typical parking problems (there is plenty parking space at the base); the views are amazing. While each cabin seats 8, I would say that 6 fit comfortably; no waiting line at all, it runs for long hours.

Renon’s Cable Car

Renon's new cable car opened on May 23, 2009, offering a whole bunch of fantastic advantages for vacationers and local commuters alike: a generous schedule, short travel time and easy access. It's a true gem. It only takes 12 minutes for the gondolas to move from Bozen/Bolzano to Oberbozen/Soprabolzano - they depart every 4 minutes, so there's practically no waiting time.

We decided that we would just take one trip by cable car in Bolzano, and decided upon this one. Strolling along from our hotel in the centre of town one morning, we soon reached the cable car station, and bought a combined ticket that included a trip on the train at the top of the mountain. The cable car was lightly loaded, we each had a comfortable seat, and the ascent was very smooth. The views as we gained height were very impressive. At what we anticipated was going to be the top of the mountain, we swung over a green, wooded dale and continued our ascent – it was almost as if we were entering a secret world, hidden from mortals in the valley below. Delightful vistas surrounded us, with the imposing Dolomites in the far distance. At the terminus, we disembarked and walked a short distance to the train station, where we joined others already waiting. Before too long, a train arrived, and we stayed on board until the end of the line in Collalbo. Be sure to arm yourself with a free map of the area, available at the cable station, because it provides several numbered walks of varying lengths that you can enjoy on the plateau. From Collalbo, we set off along walk 24 to the Pirimidi di Terra where we savoured spectacular views. On our return journey, we took a side detour through woods, along walk 20, the Fenn Promenade, before enjoying coffee in a café just as we approached Collalbo. Suitably refreshed, we decided to walk all the way back to the train station at Soprabolzano, and so headed for walk 35, the Freud Promenade. Luckily, we found a comfortable seat just as we were about to enter a wooded area, and so took the opportunity to eat some sandwiches we’d brought with us. It was a lovely walk, despite the unexpected rain shower that seemed to come from nowhere. A thoroughly enjoyable, active day rounded off by a great descent on the cable car back to Bolzano. Recommended.

La Funivia Rapallo-Montallegro

Reviewed By Nslater1 - Lake Tekapo, New Zealand

We had planned to take a return ride on La Funivia, and luckily when we arrived at the Rapallo entrance we were just in time for a ride. Excellent customer service, brilliant old fashioned, yet incredibly efficient and beautiful little cable car carriages to ride within. When you reach the top- a short 10 minute ride to Monteallegro, a lovely scenic mountain hamlet awaits, with a range of walking trails to explore. And even if you don’t fancy a walk, you can certainly enjoy a coffee or gelato enjoying the magical vista of Rapallo and surrounding villages below.

Seggiovia Monte Solaro

The chairlift up to the top of Monte Solaro is a must when in Capri - the views at the top are incredible and the 13 minute ride on the chairlift itself is wonderfully peaceful, taking in the views and brea mgthing in the fresh air (away from the crowds below). When we arrived there was no queue and we were able to go straight on - we paid €12 each for a round trip and then hopped on. I was a little worried before hand about getting on the single chair lift (very much like a ski chair lift) but it was so simple to get on and there was someone there to ensure you got on and off ok.
