Our visit here was fantastic, even with the weather being a little cloudy at times. The ride in the cable car to the top was an exhilarating adventure in and of itself as I have a fear of heights but man, what a view! Once you reach the top, there's a restaurant if you're hungry, an observation building with a glass wall at the end, and of course numerous trails where you can enjoy the beauty of the Alps first-hand. The trails are varying degrees of difficulty, depending on your skill level and interest. We took it easy and strolled along the trail that straddled the border of Germany and Austria. The variety of wildflowers was just as amazing as the view of the mountains surrounding us. A few items of note if you go: 1. We visited on June 30 and I wore a t-shirt and shorts. While I was perfectly content with the 54 F temperature, my cousins bundled up a bit as the wind was constant at certain points in the trail and made it feel colder than it actually was. You may wish to bring layers unless you're weird like I am and like cooler weather. 2. You can get a 2 Euro refund for the card you're issued when you first purchase your ticket. This card is your electronic entry onto the cable car ascending and descending the mountain. We kept ours not realizing you could turn them back in for re-use. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy to have it as a souvenir but some of you may wish to get the Euros to put toward a mug of beer while you're visiting Germany. 3. Although the restaurant does take credit cards, be aware that they only take German ones. I am an American and tried paying with my very-American credit card and the cashier shot me down instantly, saying they would only accept cards from German banks. Luckily, I had cash but if you're a tourist from a different part of the world, carry Euros with you when you come here. This place was great and I would love to go back again.

Clear summers day gives an amazing view along the Elbe both ways all the way to Saxon Switzerland and Dresden the other way. We walked out to Loschwitz along the river and a very pleasant walk it is too (special mention to the ice cream lady on the edge of Dresden who helped us along with an ice). Its an interesting architectural piece and, with a cafe / bar at the top a rewarding one. Time out to sip a beer on a hot day and enjoy the view. Loschwitz is a nice little village / suburb worth mooching around.

Koblenz Cable Car - a very special experience Hover over the Rhine in the Cable Car and discover the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Experience the unique views over a city with a tradition stretching back over 2000 years where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet. Enjoy the spectacular Cable Car journey and take a stroll through the beautiful fortress grounds to discover the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress with its wonderfull exhibitions and events. We look forward to welcoming you!
The ride across was fantastic. Be ready to take pics because it is a short trip. Head left to a nice observation area looking down the Rhine. Next there is an exercise park and then a putt putt golf course and great kids climbing park with bridges and slides. Continue around the loop to the fortress entrance. Very interesting although most of the museum is german-only signage. Views from the wall facing town are awesome and there is a bier garden and snack bar there. Great 3 hour excursion!

Suspension railway closed down The Suspension railway is closed down temporary. Please use the „SchwebebahnExpress“ for your ride between Vohwinkel and Oberbarmen. The replacement transport stops at immediate proximity to the stations. At central station (Doppersberg) all buses stop at the Bundesallee (B7). The busstop towards Oberbarmen is located in front of the business school (Handelsschule) below the Intercity-Hotel. Towards Vowhwinkel the buses stop at the crossing „Brausenwerth“.
This type of tram line is the coolest thing I ever seen before. I think it is unique in Europe. Definitely you need to buy a ticket and to get a tour with this amazing tram.

It’s a sunny day in the middle of the winter, so we’ve decided to take the cable car ride to the top for the new Alps view. The ride is totally worth it, both my kids and I have a lot of fun in the snow and the view at the top is breathtaking!

The cable car is 90 years old and is historical. I suppose with the German safely standard, they are very safe. The views are great and there are different easy walks. There is a restaurant next to the station and another 15 minutes easy walk. The dogs do not need to be muzzled like some other cable cars.
