Most travelers come to Uyuni to visit some of the world’s most unusual terrain—the Salar de Uyuni. This is the world’s largest salt flat, and you’ll want to bring a camera for surreal photos of salt-encrusted ground, geysers, and multicolored lakes.

Begin an unforgettable trip through almost 7,500 square miles (12,000 km²) of fantastic landscapes of salt and surrealist landscapes of deserts and colored lagoons of the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve. The dazzling white mantle of the Salar de Uyuni resembles an immense glacier. In winter (dry season from May to October), when the surface hardens, geometric figures formed by the salt particles agglomerated into polygons appear. In summer (rainy season from November to March) the salt desert is transformed into a giant mirror that blends into the sky of the purest blue you've ever seen before.

We booked a tour to the Valley of The Moon and Mt Chacaltaya out of LaPaz. We were there in November, 2019 during the post election protests. We met our guide, Patti, at a rendezvous point near the Prada. The pick up was about 30 minutes late. The part of the tour to the Valley of the Moon was canceled due to protestors blocking the road. We received no refund. We did drive to Mt Chacaltaya and scrambled to the top. Although the walk is not steep and the path pretty good, be prepared for a tough climb given the altitude of about 17,000 feet. You will need to take numerous stops and the climb will take longer than you expect. The views of the surrounding Andes Mountains was spectacular. Well worth the effort. Overall the trip was fine, but make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Also, we were somewhat disappointed by the reluctance of our guide to stop and allow us to take pictures at various places on the trip. If you choose to take this trip, be sure to inquire carefully about the logistics.

- We will begin our tour in the 4x4 vehicle destined for the occasion. - The first stop will be the train cemetery, a must for those who visit Uyuni and which is a record of how prosperous the area was. Later, we will move to Colchani, where we can see and buy handicrafts, as well as see how the process of making products from salt is. - Once inside the salt flat, we will visit the monument to the Dakar, the Salt Museum and the Incahuasi island that is right in the middle of the salar. Trips to the Salar de Uyuni are an unforgettable experience, but unfortunately, the general level of facilities and services that are not very high in this remote area. We would like to make it clear that things are not as reliable, comfortable and professional as we would like on these trips, so for this reason we do not promise more than you will receive for your money. The best tour, We felt very safe and was easy to organise! We traveled with a 3 year old and this was by far the best tour agency and they are not expensive too! She also organises private stargazing tours in the salts. Our guide spoke english and he was a wonderful photographer. He took a million pictures and helped us with those perspective photos and videos too! They don't pack you in a big group. We were a group of four and it was perfect! I like that this tour agency is not money minded. In fact we had to chase her to pay the money. She was very kind and I would absolutely recommend her!

We were linked with Andrea Tours through a tour group in Ecuador and we couldn't have been more pleased. Our guide Laura was warm and friendly, and we learned so much. With the above-and-beyond efforts of her and our driver, we made it to Cactus Island while the surrounding flats were still reflective. We got some amazing, one-of-a-kind views and photos, not to mention we had the whole island to ourselves! We also got a sunset tour and stargazing tour as a result of the longer journey. The stargazing wasn't even included in our itinerary. The flats were an out-of-this-planet experience, and we couldn't have enveloped ourselves more within them. We're truly grateful for a peaceful, reflective, breathtaking, and unforgettable experience.

Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni is considered one of the most extreme and remarkable vistas in all of South America, if not Earth. Stretching more than 4,050 square miles of the Altiplano, it is the world’s largest salt flat, left behind by prehistoric lakes evaporated long ago.

It's quite difficult at the moment to find a good and reliable tour company that doesn't charge you a very high price. Due to the lack of tourists at the moment, the only longer tours you can get in Uyuni are private and most agencies we contacted via online and WhatsApp didn't respond or didn't want to negotiate. Skyline Traveller were quick to respond, they were accommodating, the price was very reasonable and the service was excellent. We were supposed to go as part of a group, however it didn't happen and we ended up going just the two of us which was perfect. We did the 3 day tour to Salar and parque Nacional Eduardo Avaroa. We visited the train cemetery, Salar, a few small lagunas on the way, Laguna Colorada, geisers, hot springs, laguna negra (instead of laguna verde as we heard the water is not green anymore but white), we saw hundreds of flamingos in most of he lagunas. Stunning scenery. It was a beautifil trip and worth every penny. Rigo, our guide was young but very professional. He is fun, knowledgeable, responsible and just an excellent guide. We are mostly vegetarians and he arranged and made sure we got what we wanted or needed. He was very accommodating. The food was great, the accommodations on the way are basic but comfortable and perfect for the night. After all, you go for the adventure and experience. If you are looking for a reliable and honest tour agency in Uyuni, get in touch with Skyline Traveller. I definitely recomend going with Rigo as your guide.
