This kayak trip suits the whole family. This is the perfect half day activity around Hellesylt for those who haven´t tried kayaking before. The good thing with Hellesylt is that it´s way less crowded the Geiranger during the season. Our kayaks are stable and perfect for beginners who haven´t tried kayaking before.

We Traveled to Norway in 2020 and were keen to have a Day Kayaking on the Fjords. We contacted Norway AdvenTURes as we couldn't find tour dates to match our holiday plans. This was no problem, they set up a private tour for us, provided directions and arranged everything for our party of 6. Communication from Anne was excellent. The Kayaking experience was great, the views into the mountains sitting on the Kayak were amazing and Roger gave us lots of interesting information about the area, walks and life on the Fjords. All the required kit was provided for us and we felt safe and would recommend Norway AdvenTURes.

(This experience occurred in August 2018, which was not offered in the drop down list.) If you are a photographer, this is the BEST way to see Dalsnibba and the beautiful scenery on the way to the summit. If you take a bus, (1) it doesn't stop and (2) you don't get to experience the sights and sounds of a beautiful place. The day that we went was cold and rainy, and I'll warn you that there's no heater in the electric vehicle. However, the experience was one that I'll never forget or regret. After a short, but informative, orientation at the station, you take off for the summit. I was warned to not punch the accelerator to the maximum on the ascent, as there is enough charge in the battery to reach the summit at a moderate speed, but not full speed (there's a gauge on the dash to advise power usage and storage). The vehicle partially recharges as you coast on the descent.

We initially though to rent some kayaks, but don't have so much experience so we booked onto the 7 sisters tour to take advantage of having a local guide show us around and we were not disappointed. The kayak center is right in town just a minutes walk from the tourist info office - handy. We met our very personable guide who gave us some simple clear tips to make the paddling easy. The boats and paddle gear were in good shape - very stable double kayaks which was perfect for our family group (couple of teenagers). Plenty of time on the tour for photos and getting the detailed histories of the fjord farms. Amazing where people used to live on these cliffs tops above our paddle route. Recommend taking a guided tour. Our guide had great humor keeping us entertained, and we got many tips to keep us safe and make the paddling easier. The kids loved it, with our oldest boy saying afterwards that he wanted to be a kayak guide... kids! Geiranger kayak center also have a shorter tour if you're tight on time or not so fit. We really enjoyed the tour. A great activity which we'll remember.

I really can't say I've got to grips with Norway after my recent Covid secure trip there up the ffjirds on a cruise ship with other sufferers of my particular condition. One small issue is it's always said that all Norwegians speak English but I definitely met several who hadn't a clue what I was talking about when ordering pork chops on one of our excursions inland to Innlanden so that aspect was disappointing. Also I learned that a Smurfasbord is a kind of buffet similar to the English buffet but with fewer items from the yellow food groups such as our much loved crisps and cheese. Mr Gudmunjohansennn the ships croupier talked me through it in impeccable Norwegian so I had to deduce what he was saying from his admirable skill at pointing at things and either smiling or frowning. Was glad to get home to Sharon and normality.

We were very grateful that the staff waited for us as we were delayed due to traffic and missed the ‘training’ session. You must take a fleece as it was a warm day and it was still cold on the water. The boat only goes 9km into the fjord and the guide stops at various places for you to take photos.

We struck it lucky as Covid had shut down may travel options, but these guys were operating and offered exactly what we wanted. We had heard soo much about the Geirangerfjord but did not have alot of time as we travelled down the west coast of norway. Thankfully we got wind of this relatively new tour going from Alesund into the deep fjord 100km all by new luxury catamaran. We took it in and back out the same day but you can take it one way and spend time in Geiranger town itself. A real bonus was the excellent audio guide. It works on GPS, and as you pass by an area, this triggers the local stories and history of the people and places along the way. Incredible to think people lived on these remote places that you can still only get to by boat. We enjoyed getting very close to the long waterfalls as we closed in on the destination of Geiranger town. We had plenty of time to stretch the legs and explore the small town and grab an excellent lunch right by the harbour. After the kids and shopped for some souvenirs and of course visited the Chocolate factory, we jumped back on board to head back to Alesund to continue our journey down the coast. A great escape with so much to see. They say it shows you 3 fjords in 3 hours. Time seemed to go by pretty fast as the scenery is always changing. Very comfortable boat with a small kiosk shop for snacks and friendly staff. Highly recommended excursion.
