My husband and I had a two person wine tasting (given to me as a birthday gift) and we had an AMAZING experience! Because of the COVID situation, private tasting are be offered at the group price and so we had the entire place to ourselves. We tasted 5 wines, if I remember correctly, and were each given our own charcuterie plate to complement the wines. We learned so much about the history of wine in Hungary and the different regions. Highly recommend - was a very special experience.

Seeing just Budapest in Hungary is not the wisest thing to do. Lake Balaton is the essence of Hungarian rural beauty. Hungary's version of Provance. And our favourite region in Hungary. You will enjoy stunning views, tiny villages with century-old whitewashed houses, amazing formations of nature. We had an incredible tour with Idilko and a private driver in a Mercedes van (he was not introduced by he was very competent!). My husband and I did the tour with my 80 year old parents and both staff were kind and patient and showed us the highlights of the city while keeping in mind to avoid long walks or lots of stairs. Idilko is incredibly knowledgable about the long and interesting history of her city. We really enjoyed getting to know beautiful Budapest; we’ll be back!

Adam was a great conversationalist and we enjoyed learning about his experiences during our 2 hour drive to the lakes. He was helpful in showing us around and gave great local suggestions of places to try in Zagreb.

The history of Pecs stretches back over 2,000 years to its first Celtic settlements before it became part of the Roman Empire. Today, the city is well known for its art and culture and is home to the world-famous Zsolnay ceramics and the largest Turkish ruins in Hungary. The fourth-century Necropolis of Sopianae contains a number of underground tombs with incredible murals that depict Christian themes. The site is open to visitors who can also delve deeper into the history of the tombs at the Visitor Center. Among the city’s many historic landmarks is the iconic Gazi Kasim Mosque, which is an example of the extensive Turkish and Islamic architecture that flourished when the city was under occupation. Pecs is also situated in the country’s warmest wine region, so after sampling the cultural delights of the city then why not relax with a glass of one of the region’s must tries — Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Fran, and Merlot.

We’d booked this tour with Costco as we had had good luck with their service on previous cruises—and they did not disappoint. Our guide, Jolanta Car, was waiting at the bottom of the gangplank with a sign. There were three of us + Jolanta. We walked to her car and began the hour and 15 minute drive into Istria. Jolanta speaks perfect english and carried on a running conversation all the way to the first stop: a little farm restaurant out in the hills. After a brief wait for the members of another tour (which arrived by bus), we had a light lunch with wine and could see Motovun—an old tiny town built on top of a mountain. That was our second stop. Jolanta parked the car and we started up the hill. My wife had recent surgery and chose not to make the walk, and waited in the car. The three of us walked to the top and Jolanta purchased tickets to walk around the wall, as well as a cappucino. We spent about a half-hour there, then walked back to the car and continued to a small distillery, where the owner provided an overview of their processing and provided free samples. Very informative. We returned to the ship on time. It was a wonderfult time and we felt like we had gained a new friend. As we left here, my wife asked if she had a card—she does and owns her own tour company ([email protected]). When we got back to the ship, my wife wondered if Yolanta could set up a private tour in Dubrovnik. We had not as it was supposed to rain—but perhaps a private tour could work. 45 minutes later, we had a tour and a deal. The Dubrovnik tour was also excellent and we recommend Jolanta without reservation.
