10 Tours in Sardinia That You Shouldn't Miss

April 30, 2022 Tynisha Seiler

The second-largest island in Mediterranean after Sicily, Sardinia serves up a lovely blend of sea, sand and history. Thousands of nuraghe (stone buildings) dot the landscape, proof that people have been enjoying the lovely climate here for millennia. From posh Costa Smerelda in the north to medieval Alghero in the northwest to the lively capital of Cagliari in the south, and with many picturesque towns and unspoiled sandy beaches in between, Sardinia’s got a little something for everyone.

Wow. What an experience. We booked through our hotel on recommendation from the manager - the trip didn’t disappoint. Very Quick Summary - Book this tour. Knowledgable, friendly and hospitable guides who were adhering to COVID-19 guidelines and made the truly amazing. Longer summary: The captain Alessandro spoke great English and communicated to us the day before (via WhatsApp) to make sure we would get to the Port all OK. As a matter of fact, the assistant sailor (name I can’t remember) was fantastic and met us at a roundabout near to the port as the main road was closed nearby. Upon making our way to the port, we were greeted by the captain, had a health and safety briefing and were on our way. A midday aperitivo (traditional Sardinian snacks and refreshments) followed by a stop of at the most magnificent bay, was followed by a cool off and jump off into the sea. We then went to some fantastic islands (names I can’t remember) which included some more swimming and a boat trip to visit the most amazing beaches I’ve ever seen! Once complete, we had an amazing pasta lunch accompanied by wine beer and soft drinks. On the way back, we got to see the catamaran move via sail, an amazing experience. Thanks Alessandro and team. Scott & Sara :)

This tour greatly exceeded expectations in terms of what we learned and what we were able to see. The site is very interesting and allows access to the inside of the towers as well as the surrounding village. The insides of the towers and the stairways within the walls are incredible. Isabella and Valerio were very knowledgeable and charming and made the trip a real delight. One warning - some steps are very narrow and extremely steep.

We had an amazing time with our guide. It was only the two of us and our local guide. We did a 3 hours tour by Quad over Domus de Maria in the mountains and then down to the beaches. The two was very nice, the explanations very interresting and funny. It provides you a nice tour on a fun quad with a local guide giving tips. He was very friendly. I strongly recommand Bitan Daily Tours for activities around the region. The day after we booked with them the boat tour :)

Why don't you enjoy its beauty while everyone else is gone? You are privileged! Don't forget to bring a towel and your bathing suit to have a full moon swim! The trek from Cala Fuilito Cala Luna is a coastal trek of about 6 km. You will walk on lime stone and through old woods of juniper and Mediterranean scrub. The scent of these plants will capture your senses and you will be able to imagine how the old shepherds used to walk on these paths with their flock. Once at Cala Luna, a dinner with typical Sardinian products will be waiting for you. Enjoying a glass of red Cannonau wine on this marvelous beach while the moon is rising has no price. This calm atmosphere will transport you into a state of complete peace. If you wish so, you will be able to have a swim under the moonlight in the vast sea of the Gulf of Orosei. We will end this adventure with a motor boat ride back to the harbor of Cala Gonone. The moon reflected on the calm waters will forever remain in your memories!

We made a nice e-bike trip with our host Valentina through Cagliari. The city is big and hilly. But with the e-bikes it was easy explorable and made a lot fun. Valentina introduced the city with its historical and religious side like the procession Feast of Sant’Efisio. She gave also recommendations where to eat typical Sardinian food. At the end of our tour, we spend time together at a street restaurant, drank a coffee and had a nice chat. If you spend some time in Cagliari, then use this option and discover a beautiful city by bike.

We originally booked a one hour Tuk Tuk city tour with Alberto but liked the tour so much that we extended the tour to another hour to take in the beach and the flamingoes. Albert was a brilliant, knowledgeable, fun guide and gave us some great insider knowledge on Cagliari. The Tuk Tuk tour is a great, fun, original way to see the city and I would thoroughly recommend it.
