I had a fantastic experience taking a surf lesson with Guillermo! He is a very thorough and patient teacher, and he has great energy. I didn't think I was going to be able to stand up, but I did! I felt like a real surfer. It was tons of fun, and I would definitely do it again. Highly recommend! Gracias, Guille!

My mom and I were in Costa Rica for a total of two weeks and had about 3 long (4+ hour) journeys to make from city to city, so we booked The Baqueano after reading a few TripAdvisor reviews. I would give this company 10 stars if I could. The attention to detail and customer service was gold standard. The drivers are experienced and bilingual, and very knowledgeable about the nature and wildlife along the ride. The prices are reasonable and I will definitely book this car service again when traveling back to Costa Rica. A very special shout out to Gus/Gonzo, who turned a 7 hour car ride into a fun tour and wonderful experience!

We were making a two week tour through Costa Rica and I took a private surfing lesson from Richard. My first ever. He explained it very well and we did a good warming up. Then we went into the water and I tried to get on and stay on the board. The water is excellent and there is a nice surf. Richard cheered me on enthousiastically and gave further instructions how to get on the board. I’ve had a great time trying to get into the Ninja position, but mostly I fell off. Richard made several foto’s and films from within the water of my attempts, that I got afterwards. Whenever we’ll get back, I’d like to give it an other shot. Richard, thanks for all the fun!

We stayed for a few days in Sta. Teresa and took several surf lessons with Selina, where a guy named Victor was our instructor. We had a terrible experience. Teaching: His teaching style can be described as "military". He didn't introduce himself and then pretty much yelled at us, when he didn't like what we did. I didn't really learn a technique (apart from the "chicken leg"), but we always went out to be big waves, where Victor pushed our boards, so we were able to surf the waves, although only with his support. Other: Victor didn't show any interest in us and didn't even know our names after a few days. He is openly homophobic about Nicaraguans and other mighrants in Costa Rica. He seemed still intoxicated (THC, alcohol) from the party the night before at several of the classes. He was also bragging about how many girls he had just hooked up with the last days. Sounds pretty much like college, but he must be in his upper 30ies / 40ies.
