Okay FIRST OF ALL, Salvador is the best guide we’ve had out of four trips here. The hike was either incredibly hard or we were very out of shape ???? but he worked with us to still have an amazing time. We ended up also birdwatching and found many Quetzales. It was a beautiful time. He’s super knowledgeable, very kind, speaks English/Spanish, and even will offer you a raincoat if you tell him ahead of time! :) I would recommend this hike if you’re a cross fitter or really in to long hikes, but if recommended Salvador taking you anywhere whether you are traveling alone as a female, or this is your first time in Guatemala, or you’re in a family with kids, or a business trip, or literally whatever- he’s the guy!! We felt safe and taken care of the entire day. We can’t wait to come back and see more with him next year and the years to come.

Antigua Guatemala is located just 1:15 hours from Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala. Founded in 1543, Antigua remains very similar to its original layout. Once, the capital for the Spanish kingdom established in Central America now is considered a heritage´s world site according to Unesco since 1979 and also one of the most charming and safest cities in Central America. During this quick visit, you will enjoy the interesting talk of our experienced guide about the city´s traditions and history. Our highlight, it´s the visit to Santo Domingo Monastery and Resort. This XVI century, "half-restored" property has opened to its visitors the old facilities. In this magnificent location, you will experience a high-end atmosphere at any moment but also you will be capable to witness history in every detail. The complex offers amongst its main attractions museums for glass, art and silver, crypts, murals, catacombs and more. This is definitely the kind of tour you can´t miss.

If you are traveling to Guatemala, you have to ride with Byron! He had all of the essentials covered! He was right there for us when we arrived at the airport with a sign and everything. His vehicle was well maintained and absolutely pristine. Not only was he polite, kind and great with kids; he also spoke flawless English which helped quite a bit because my Spanish is... a little rusty. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. He went above and beyond in every way possible including but not limited to amazing knowledge of local custom and history. My wife and I have traveled all over the world and I can say I would come back to Guatemala just to see Byron again. He was that good!

All of the logistics around the tour were perfect -- great communication, easy to book, they even offered a carseat for my daughter. The vehicle was comfortable, wifi worked great, and all of the stops were well-planned and interesting. I've been in Guate for a year, and I saw a ton of new and interesting things. Be prepared that is is a FULL day. We were exhausted by lunchtime. It's also not super kid-friendly, and I wish we'd made other arrangements for my 4 y/o. Usually, she loves this sort of thing, but the bouncing around and quick pace made it hard for her to get into anything. The guide was polite, knowledgeable, and very helpful during the tour. He was flexible when we requested changes to the schedule and could quickly and easily answer our questions about the places we visited. What really turned us off was all the political commentary -- about Guatemalan politics and US politics alike. The guide was very knowledgeable about the sites and their history, but would often diverge to talk about his personal opinions on capitalism, the Trump presidency, and why the Mayan people lack the ability to think logically due to deficiencies in their language (*eyeroll*). I am very liberal, and my sister who traveled with us is very conservative, and we both walked away offended -- no small feat! It made it hard to simply enjoy the history of the places we visited because we weren't sure what was being filtered. I also wish there was more of an emphasis on the STORIES behind the sites, not just the facts. It felt a little dry. It was a nice tour and I would recommend the company as a whole, but I hope the guide sticks to the facts next time.
