The best part of this tour is the down-home hospitality Sam tries to deliver with every ride. There is no real set schedule, so we have a bit more flexibility in how we do things. Sam will help you from the time you first write to the time she hugs you goodbye at the last stop and beyond if you're traveling to anywhere else that she is familiar with. Get to know other travelers and share once in a lifetime experiences along the way.

We went for a round trip drive on Alternative Routes back in May. Sam was attentive and easy to deal with when we booked our journey, and friendly and knowledgeable when we met up to drive around southern Nova Scotia. She knows lots of people in each of the towns we stopped at, and you can tell that she really cares about the communities and introducing her customers to what they have to offer. We had a great time and great conversation on the way back. We were very pleased to have booked with her, and would recommend Alternative Routes to anyone visiting Halifax.

Navigate Galleries and Vessels to discover the stories and legends of a rich, diverse fishing heritage that is woven into our cultural fabric. Within the walls of a former fish processing plant, our galleries tell the stories of Bluenose, the Mi’kmaq Fishery, Stormy Seas, the Banks Fishery, Inshore Fisheries and Community Life. The romance and beauty of a sea that competes with the cold hardships of life hanging on a fish hook will be revealed by passionate and accessible interpreters as they bring the stories of the fishery to life.
