Oustanding tour which included some good technical coaching. Marc and Simone are highly professional, encouraging and hospitable. During the tour we stopped off at several locations to swim, snorkle & cliff dive (all optional) which made the trip a nice tempo with opportunity to cool down, hydrate, re apply suncream whilst taking in the stunning scenary. The tour took us through some small groto's where we could swim, paddle or snorkle. The equipment and teaching was high quality. It's well worth paying for the half day trip, rather than a couple of hours because you are constantly active and the scenary and marine life is stunning. A small group enabled us to interact and finish a wonderful morning off with a tastey and inexpensive lunch together (optional). Marco and Simone are fanstastic hosts throughout and willing to support any way they can. A high quality SUPing experience.

We did the wine tour with Mario (the owner) and his nephew (translating into English). It was a great afternoon on the winery . We tastet all the wines served with fresh baked bred, did a walk through the vineyard where Mario explained about the different soils and climas and a little bit of history. Afterwards we went inside, learned everything about the production processes and tasted wines in different stages. We ended up buying some boxes of there delicious wine and Mario even recommended and reserved a place for us in a restaurant in Iglesias after we told him we wanted to have dinner somewhere. It was really good experience. Mario and his nephew were really nice, explained everything in detail and showed us their passion for their small Juwel winery. Highly recommended!

Porto Flavia is one of the wonders of Sardinia. This monument of extraordinary industrial archeology dominates an enchanting coast, giving visitors a breathtaking view of the thousand shades of blue of the Masua sea and the suggestive Faraglione di Pan di Zucchero, a 133-meter natural monument. A real engineering masterpiece that improved the working conditions of the miners and reduced the time and cost of transporting the ore. The name of the port was given by the engineer Cesare Vecelli. The designer of the work wanted to give him the name of his daughter. The port remained operational until the 1960s. During the guided tour of Porto Flavia you go through the upper gallery until you reach the terrace from which you can enjoy a unique panorama.

I have to say we felt a bit mislead, we had been advised at the airport by the travel office and strangely by the car hire representative that this was a must see place in Sardinia so had driven 2 hours to get here. Our guide was very good, she explained the requirement for the tunnel and why it allowed larger ships to take the mined ore away in greater quantities. We got to understand the difficulties of digging the tunnel as we walked along and how it affected jobs and the community. At the end we arrived at the point that the ships used to be loaded and had a good view out to sea and then walked back. This itself is not the mine, you do drive past the abandoned mine on your way to here. I don't really see this as an attraction for children unless there are very interested in industrial/economic history. Certainly our teenage daughter who is interested in history and does history A level was quite bored. On some practical points, the car park is very small and even in late October we were very lucky to be able to get a space. There is a food truck, but you can only pay by cash.

The Masua hub was a complex of several mining operations in the Sulcis area, a region of Sardinia rich in coal, sulphur, barium, zinc, lead, silver and other metals. Extraction began in 1600, but became economically relevant only in the early 1900s when the mining business in the whole region experienced a quick expansion. The extraction, especially of the coal caves, was operated on a low-technology basis until the early 20th century. Since the late 1800s metal-gathering enjoyed more modern techniques, as it was controlled mostly by rich north-European corporations more willing to commit money in improving the mining efficiency. In 1922, the Masua mines were acquired by the Belgian Vieille Montagne Company, and exploitation increased with the growing need for zinc and lead for reconstruction after World War I as well as because of technological advance in steel alloys.
