Mandela Capture Site and the very newly opened Visitor Centre. What can I say, spectacular, spiritual, a journey of discovery, right here in the Midlands. The actual Capture Site, where Mandela, was arrested by the security police, on a quiet Sunday afternoon, 5 August 1962. Diagonally opposite, a masterpiece comprising 50 steel columns, commemorating 50 years after capture by artist Marco Cianfanelli. Framing this phenomenal sculpture is the newly opened Visitor Centre, a befitting home, showcasing an extraordinary life and footsteps to freedom, unequaled in the world, a spectacular creation.

Explore, indulge and dream amongst the gentle hills and warm-hearted people who call the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands home. The Midlands Meander route is situated between the city of Pietermaritzburg in the East and the majestic uKhahlamba Drakensberg mountain range (a World Heritage Site) in the West, in the uMgungundlovu district, one of eight regions of the ‘Zulu Kingdom’. Walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela as you journey to the rustic place where he was captured more than 50 years ago. The Nelson Mandela capture site is now a powerful and poignant memorial to a critical moment in South African history – and the start of Mandela’s 27 years in captivity. Be mesmerized by the beauty of Howick Falls, take a walk along a trail and spend time at some of the intriguing shops to be found in Howick.

We booked this tour for six people. The company replied immediately to our email and were very helpful. Our guide and driver, Zamani, picked us up from our hotel and spent the day with us. He was truly brilliant. Really knowledgeable, kind, and a fantastic driver. Some of the roads were quite tricky but we felt really safe with him. He even organised lunch for us at the Rorke’s Drift hotel which was first-class. When we arrived at the battlefields we were met by a specialist guide but, to be honest, I think Zamani could have done this part of the tour as well (and probably better). All in all, it was an excellent day and we would highly recommend a visit with this company.

Come and enjoy a uniquely Zulu experience by visiting a traditional Zulu healer. An Inyanga / Sangoma is a traditional medicine practitioner or shaman of the Zulu people in South Africa. A Sangoma / Inyanga can communicate with your ancestors, work with plant medicine (herbalist) and use the power of prayer for healing. The tour departs from Durban towards the picturesque area of Molweni. The Inyanga / Sangoma consultation lasts about 45 Minutes where he will use traditional methods like throwing the bones to connect with your ancestors and convey the information he receives. The tour guide will translate if need be but the Sangoma does speak English. After the consultation the tour guide will continue with a scenic tour of Molweni before heading back to Durban.
Inclusions: Scenic tour of Molweni KZN, Collection and drop off from Durban in an Air-conditioned vehicle., Qualified Tour Guide
Exclusions: Lunch, Inyanga / Sangoma Consultancy fee. R500 pp
Freddie, our amazing guide, was the best part. We arrived by cruise ship, 2 hour late. He waited and reorganized our tour so we missed only one small thing I can't even remember. We saw everything else including lions and hippos after the best time with the Zulu performance. I would give him more stars if I could. At the end of the tour, his boss called to make sure we were taken care of. When I spoke to him, he pretty much said it went so well because we had Freddie. Freddie knew every nuance of our visits....how much time to allow, what to pass over more quickly, where to spend the most time. Thanks to all of you.

Our tour of Durban, a bustling metropolis, often called the cultural ‘melting pot’ of South Africa, includes a drive through the sports corridor with its impressive sporting facilities to the Blue Lagoon area on the Umgeni River where you get a panoramic view of the whole bay of Durban. Then past the so-called Apartheid Beaches, the Marine Parade (Golden Mile) where you will see the rickshaws, en route to the impressive developments at the new Point Waterfront area. We drive past the busiest harbour in Africa and various historical monuments, and then through the city centre where the original Railway Station building, the City Hall and the Post Office buildings each have a story to tell. We stop at the Indian Market where you get a glimpse into the Indian culture and bargain for souvenirs and spices. Our last visit is to the Botanical Gardens with its extensive collection of trees and plants from all over the world, as well as a famous cycad collection and orchid garden.
Inclusions: Bottled water, Air-conditioned vehicle, All Fees and Taxes
Exclusions: Tipping
Wonderful journey. Due to almost suspense of tourism at covid I was alone and all attention was for me like in personal VIP tour. Pickup and return on-time. Car and SUV were comfy. SUV driver is high professional in hard and dangerous mountain road. Zamani is knowing guide and also good driver. Both are great interlocutors. I saw some places in Durban and pleasant landscapes, towns and animals on the way. Sani Pass has impressionable mountains, gorges, rivers, waterfalls and plants. I watched the village in Lesotho with it's special countrylife and highest pub in Africa. And we were so lucky with our sunny trip just after that the weather changed to rainy. I'm extra satisfied! High recommendations! Many thanks! Ngibona kakhulu!

Paul was an absolutely superb guide. His consideration and care for his customers was exceptional, right from pick-up at the airport and drop-off in suburban Durban, to dealing with all aspects of the practicalities of a safari. We stayed for two nights at Hilltop camp in a family chalet (breakfasts and suppers included), and found the facilities very welcoming. Watch out for the cheeky gangs of Vervet monkeys, though! The food was very good (I recommend the excellent a la carte Kudu steak). The swimming pool was welcome between game drives, as were the small shop and veranda bar with wide views. We saw three of the big five very quickly, but Paul's immense experience allowed us to get so much closer over the three days. We almost became a part of a small herd of elephants as they walked by us on a small road, and we sat and watched groups of buffalo and rhino from metres away. The big cats eluded us, but Paul's enthusiasm for all wildlife more than compensated. I started to keep a tally of bird species (50+ new to me on my first visit to SA), and Paul kept introducing us to the smaller, easily overlooked aspects of nature that I suspect most guides ignore. He managed to enthuse our jaded 12 year old twins about dung-beetles, and (glow-in-the-dark!) scorpions, but his trick for hunting wolf spiders was simply jaw-dropping! I cannot recommend Mzansi (and Paul in particular) highly enough.

We had a fantastic tour in March 2020. Our guide made everything possible that we Feld comfortable and safe. We could stop wherever we wanted to stop to take pictures and Benson helped us with everything we needed. It was one of the best activities we had in South Africa.

Our curated wine experience was incredible. Our tour guide Roger ensured we learnt at each farm, tasted the best wines at each farm and walked away feeling amazing. It was the best experience, and Roger was a wonderful host. We are very glad to have had Roger as our guide. He ensured we received the best wines at each farm, and assisted us with choosing our favorites from each farm to purchase. Thank you Roger for the most fantastic day, despite the rain.
